i don't know if this is allowed, so i apologize in advance and feel free to delete the post.

the chicago tigers, the semi-pro baseball team i play for, are raising money to cover league fees in the local MABL (which are sky-high ridiculous) by selling super bowl squares. they cost $50 each, but i might be willing to split the cost with you as it is all going toward league fees. payout is $2,500. if you're interested, pm me via the board and i'll put you in touch with the team manager.

thanks

I am not a lawyer, but my understanding is that selling squares is legal IF every cent collected is distributed to the winners. Because this involves 50% going to the organizers, it would likely not be considered legal. The sponsors (Chicago Tigers) could conceivably be charged with bookmaking. Whether someone in law enforcement goes after you is another issue. But I wouldn't advertise this too broadly...

thanks for the heads up.

this is the only truly public forum (in the sense that i only know one other person here, and it can be read without a login) i've posted to -- i've mainly asked around and emailed friends. but, again, if it's not a good idea (on the part of the admin) to have this posted up here, i'm more than willing to let it be taken down. if it's okay to leave it up, though, i'll take my chances, despite the fact that i don't count on getting any responses, haha.

I rarely care if a real user post shit to sell, do etc. Just hate see Viagra ads from some guy named Vladimir in Russia.

Does anyone remember some Caller Bob from the Western Burbs that used to go after legitimate Charity Groups that had raffles, sold squares, etc without beling licensed to do so?

She has been in the Newspaper a couople of times over the years. She even went after a local gas station owner who was selling squares for the Super Bowl for $100 a sqaure and 50% was going to a family whose son was having brain surgery and they could not afford the bills.

She has a regular job selling something and of course the newspaper did not mention what she sold, or what her company was.
