I like two horses at the Spa today. Both figure to be nice overlays. The second one is a big longshot. In the second, Adirondack Dancer. In the eighth, Orino. I also don't think Tepin wants to go a mile and an eighth. Stephanie's Kitten probably wins the Diana. |

I thought I had him at the eighth pole. |

I can see why he came down, but on the other hand, it happened so fast I don't think the other riders even checked up. He certainly didn't cost anyone the win. When he straightened back out he drew off again. Too bad, Walt. |

That's a hit of a lifetime, but it's difficult for the average guy to stick $700 into a Pick-5. It's almost like playing Lotto. And if there's a big pool with low takeout, you're going up against syndicates that are covering a lot of combos and obvious numbers multiple times. |

Yes sir, growing up around the dog track and having a good friend (John Robinson) that was probably the greatest all time at gambling off dogs, I learned quite a bit about this. |

My biggest problem is I don't take what JORR once said to heart, which is not to bet to "win" every race. I get pissed off when I miss a Pick 4 or Pick 5 by once race so I try to recoup my losses from that bet by betting races to win until the next P4 or P5 starts, which can dig a bigger hole if not careful or your picks don't pan out. Twice this year, I've dug a deep hole on a Friday or Saturday, only to win it back (and a little more) in a Pick 5 on a Sunday. I need to do a better job of picking spots and being patient. You should all should take at least a stab a few times a week at the Late P4's at Saratoga and Del Mar, especially on the weekends. The pools have been over 750k each day of the meet I believe, or close to it. |
