a guy next to me had a hundred bucks at 20-1 on hester scoring first TD, between the leaps of joy I was tempted to kick him in the nuts

A guy I work with had $100 @ 800:1 (That's $80,000 for the math impaired) that Hester would score on the opening kick-off. In other words, the Bears had to win the coin toss, elect to receive, the Colts had to kick to Hester (I would have bet $100 the Colts wouldn't kick it to him) & he had to run it back for a TD. His Dad told him it was a sucker bet but placed it for him anyway.

The Hester TD at 20:1 was a real prop.

The other one sounds much too high to me. The true odds would be much less than that and the offering odds would be even less. I'm not aware of any prop that was being offered on the SB at 800:1. The books normally don't offer props that even have the potential to hurt them so badly. That's why you rarely see SB props or any single game props that are more than about 50:1. Call me skeptical unless somebody shows me the ticket. And you can bet that if the guy really did have that ticket, he damn sure took a picture of it.

To make the math work, I was thinking a 3 part parlay of Hester first score @ 20:1, with Bears win the toss -115, Opening kickoff run back for a TD @ 25:1.

But my book wouldn't let you hook up props with odds that high.
I think they capped at 100:1.

Mustang,

Hester could have also scored the first TD later in the game - on a punt, on a kick return via a Colts' FG, perhaps a WR reverse call, etc. First TD in the game and returning the opening kick are not the same play, even after you factor in the coin toss, etc.

800 to 1 sounds outrageous. You couldn't get 800 to 1 on the Kansas City Royals winning the World Series.

Bucket he knows that. The play for 800 to 1 was for hester to score a touchdown on the opening kickoff and he was just trying to calculate someway how they could come up with a number.

I agree Bucket, and don't think any book would give those odds.
I'm just saying that there were props on the board for:

1) Hester to score first @ 20:1
2) Bears win the coin toss @ -115

If the third prop of: Opening kick off will be returned for a TD was offered (I didn't see it), would a book let you link it? Biggest odds I've seen is the
10 team ..... 300 - 1 $50 max bet.

Edit,
I did read a story once about a british fellow who had the first 15 parts of a 16 part soccer parlay come in for some huge odds like 2000-1 but i think it was all game outcomes, no props.
