I just locked in Kansas at 12-1. I watched this team closely this weekend. They are going to make some noise in March. |

Taking a look, a nice value looks like Pitt at 15-1. They are a team built around D and a good guard rotation along with the big man Aaron Gray. |

All the talent in the world but a bad coach, young lineup and a drop in production on the road does not portend for a good tourney. |

Probably a rather loud gagging sound in the first or second round of the tournament, I'd guess. |

gd and Midge, you guys beat me to it! Luckily for Jayhawk fans, Bucknell and Bradley don't seem likely to make the tournament unless they win their respective tournaments. So on the plus side, Kansas can lose to a different double-digit seed this year! |

12-1 to do what? If it's manage to escape the first weekend on the tourney, you may have slightly overpaid. Anything else and you got hosed. Seeing how my Cyclones nearley knocked them off a few weeks ago, I'm not expecting too much from them. |

Bill Self = Ron Zook. Both great recruiters, but bad coaches. |

12-1 isn't bad for Kansas....20-1 would've been great, though. |

I;m not going to popoo your thought on Kansas, it's just they've had years were you'd thank they would do good in the tournament, besides the last 2 years, and they just spit the bit. I do like the Georgetown pick, they remind me a little of last year's UCLA team, tough defense and just a little enough offense. If you remeber they had Florida down in the last minute last year before Flordia won and won the whole thing thing. A quick thought on how you fill out your brackets, here are 2 teams that you could have going far on out quick may determine who wins, Georgetown in one of them, with a good shot for the FInal 4. The other is Ohio State, a natinal championship caliber team, but some of their games they pull out in the final minute with teams they should beat by 20. There favred by 11 today agianst Minnesota, and you can't say for sure which way to go and if the BUckeyes win, they could be number 1. |

There's a certain team in a certain desert area that could be a final four pick as well.... |

I'm amused by the dislike for Bill Self. Hell hath no fury like a woman...or a sports fan...scorned. I'll take his recruits over Weber's any day and twice on Sunday. While I agree that this young KU team will be unlikely to make a lot of noise in the tourney, at least they will be in it. Illini fans better learn to love the NIT...they'll be seeing a lot of it with Peter Principle Bruce in charge. |

Coast you're just pissed at Weber because you had the first half over. Bruce is a much better coach than Self will ever be. I have seen Self out coached many times over the last few years. You will not see Bruce out coached. Bruce's problem is he is not slimy enough, maybe he can work on that. |

Isn't the general consensus that Weber is the better coach, Self the better recruiter ? |

Coast, I'm no Illini fan, so I don't have a hatred for Bill Self. However, I do agree with many others who think he is an overrated coach, while a very gifted recruiter. While my primary interest in college hoops is Duke, I spent nearly four years in Ames so I try to watch as much Cyclones hoops as I can. After seeing the Jayhawks nearly lose to a much less talented team, I see no reason why KU will make it out of the first weekend, barring a complete cakewalk draw courtesy of the selection committee. |

You got me there, Reason...but today aside, count me among the unimpressed at Weber's bench coaching prowess. Weber may be a better bench coach than Self, but that's faint praise. I can't recall a Weber-coached team Illini team has ever played above its talent and won games in which it was a decided underdog. Add in his bland personality and lack of charisma that beget lousy recruiting classes, and the future does not look bright. Self may not win the NCAA tourney at KU in the next ten years, but I think he has better odds than Weber. |

You may be right Coast, but I beg to differ. I think once Bruce gets a roster full of his guys he will be much more effective. If we're both still here in 2 or 3 years we can talk about it. Oh, his players need to stop fucking up off the court, that would help. |

Kansas looked pretty good this week, a 29 point road victory and a 53 point massacre. |

Coast. Illinois is gonna make the big tourney for sure this year. They'll be an 8 or a 9 seed. I guarentee it. |

He will not even win the Big XII tourney this year with all of that talent. I like Illinois, but I'd hardly call myself an Illini guy. I don't hate Self, I just see him for what he is...Lou Henson without the funny orange jacket. |

I'm normally a big-10 fan, but even after the recent polls. I'm staying away from them. Chus - I love Kansas as well as A&M from the big 12. The ACC and SEC and Pac 10 will also have huge impact. They all have so much more energy than OSU and Wisc. UNC, Florida, UCLA, memphis all bring so much more to the games. I hope I'm wrong, but I'll be as surprised as anyone if Big 10 is in final four. |

I don't know Andy. It seems like Wisconsin has always made its name being underestimated. Even now as the number one team, I think you could ask a casual fan about potential champions and not have Wisconsin mentioned. They play great D, which is always big in the Saturday-Sunday games of the tourney and they do have players. |

You may be right...KU may be able to do it, but in spite of Self. That's one hell of a talented team. |

I am putting a small play on Georgetown at 25-1. Not too shabby. Kansas is now +460, Georgetown is +725 |

You should see if they would be willing to buy your position back. Kansas showed a lot of good and bad this weekend. |

There are only a handful of teams that have a realistic shot to win it all. Kansas happens to be one of them. I will take my chances at 12-1. |

I made a small play on Oregon at 40-1. Definitely a long shot, but those are great odds if the Ducks get hot. |
