Looks like it's the next Grade I race on the schedule.

Who should I be looking at JORR? You have any favorites?

Well, there are a bunch more Derby preps before that, but I'm guessing The SA Derby comes down to Mor Spirit vs. Nyquist. Unless Baffert takes Mor Spirit to Sunland or goes through Arkansas like he did with AP. I'd keep my eye on the horses down in Florida this year- Mohaymen, Brody's Cause, Greenpointcrusader. And don't count Awesome Banner out. I think most people believe he's a sprinter, but if he gets any kind of breather on top, these horses will have a hard time catching him going a route.

One of these days I want to go to the track (or parlor) with JORR.

Definitely!

I'm looking for a new spot. They closed my OTB in Niles. There's nothing really close to me now. My wife doesn't want me to open an ADW account. She says I'll never leave the house.

OK made my Kentucky Derby Future's bet on Twin Spires Beat The Price Challenge. 30/1.

I'm not sure why Romans is going that route with the horse. A lot of strange preps. Nyquist winning today in the San Vicente. A seven panel Derby prep??? Now he's going to the Florida Derby instead of the Santa Anita, I guess because of the Fasig-Tipton bonus and the extra week.

One thing I'll say about the Churchill points system is that it's really killed the Derby preps. Everybody is hunting for points and they all want to stay out of each others' way. So you have a lot of heavy favorites dominating the prep races. Then everyone meets up in Louisville on the first Saturday in May. But I'm pretty sure the favorite has won every Derby since the implementation of the points system with the exception of I'll Have Another.

A trainer simply can't afford to use a prep to set his horse up for the Derby without the goal of actually winning that prep.
