Solid interview with Chico on today's podcast. Mac continues to sound good and energized. As he has said, it is a medium that suits him well because he can engage in longer interviews and use foul language when desired.

It is a good format for him, and he can mix in some pre-recorded interviews with same morning stuff. I liked today's podcast even though I don't particularly care for Vandy as a radio thinker. But Mac just needs a conversation foil.

No idea how many people are listening yet.

His podcast has been solid. Enjoy it more than anything between 9am-6pm on 670

Dennis taking a jab at Doc's podcast!

Saying if you aren't gonna use this section, then Mac can have it.

SAD!

Fake News. I don't think I have ever taken a direct shot at Doc. I make fun of UIUC and needle at that school a lot. And as for his podcast, I just had an issue with one particular episode. He's among the least controversial guys around this place.

As for using this section, well yes, it's been a bit barren.

My sources tell me Doc is working on a tremendous new episode of CFR. You wouldn't believe how amazing it is going to be.

Smokey and the Bandit episode with Chus and Mrs. Dr. Ken?

I normally hate interviews with athletes/coaches but thought the one with Rivera was really well done. It's clear there was a comfort level for both of them that made it feel more like a conversation and less like a typical football interview.

Let's put it this way: I'm stuck at home for the next four weeks after heart valve replacement surgery. I have not listened to a minute of 670 or 1000. I didn't listen to Mac's podcast because I was being sliced open, and I didn't get a chance to listen Monday. But I needed to take a rest this morning as my lungs were acting up, and I didn't even consider putting on either 670 or 1000. But I did put on the podcast for the full length.

I'm at the older end of the key sports radio demographic. What they're doing isn't working. If I just want dumb thoughts about sports, I can come here.

As a UIUC alum, the school needs as much needling as possible right now.

I have an unnatural disdain for the school. And I've enjoyed making fun of it over the years. That disdain originates from the fact that I really wanted to attend Notre Dame, and UIUC was my settle school. Other secondary factors are as follows:

1) The school had a very high level of suburban Chicago kids including maybe thirty kids from my high school class. It didn't have that feel of being away from home.
2) The cities are dumpy. There is very little appeal to the surrounding areas, and the campus itself was largely run down. The quad buildings were extremely dated. I know they were putting money into the engineering and business schools while I was there.
3) The sports were uninspiring. I always had a level of jealousy for say the Madison grads around the office where they have this extreme and deserved loyalty towards the Badgers.
4) The school is not much loved up in Chicagoland. We have more WI and IA memorabilia around the office than UIUC. In fact, I only know of one person that ever displays UIUC stuff in our office. UIUC just doesn't have much cache in its home state.

These are merely my opinions as someone who has lived here his entire life and went to the school.

You are a whiny ass bitch. They should have let you in at ND given what a twat you are.

Haha, yeah. Guilty as charged, I guess. ND folks are as insufferable as Cubs fans. Unfortunately, I was born into both and fit right in.

Interesting info from the Plesac episode:

Cubs could have had Verlander but they would not give up Almora.

Almora is a tough guy for me to project. I know he can hit fastballs, lefties, can play good OF defense...but I don't know how good he can really be, they're either protecting him or he's not ready for full time action...

Guys like Almora and Baez are so young. Almora has lacked the consistent playing time to show us what he can do.

Hell yeah for sure. Those are heartfelt opinions. But BR and others have given me crap for it. And rightly so. It's irrational.

There seems to a certain RHP which they're trying to avoid with him, and then they're trying to find AB for Schwarber, Happ, Jay, and Zobrist. Ideally Zobrist will go to the bench next year, Schwarber will be traded to Tampa in an Archer deal, and both Happ and Almora can get more regular playing time with Jay playing across the OF as needed.

Almora seems kinda steep for JV for 2 years @ 28 million per.
