Hoping to check this out tomorrow. Just had a few too many things going on today. I'll even put it on my calendar so I can drink my coffee to it. |

There is part of me that is always surprised when Doc mention Chicago radio and tv stations. Either there was less interference back then or they had a hell of an antennae on the radio side. Sounds like he had better tv reception than I did in eastern Kane county. |

We had a two-story farm house. The antenna was on a separate tower attached to the house that probably extended another 8-10 feet above the house. We got that solid NE signal from Chicago. We could also turn N for Rockford or SSW to get Peoria stations. They would often get the alternate AFC game in the afternoons so it was like 1980s Sunday Ticket if you didn't like what NBC Chicago was getting for their AFC game. Also, Rockford wasn't susceptible to the Bears blackouts when those were still happening so we could still catch Bears games while those city folk had to sit by the radio holding their....thoughts. I just remember Dr. Ray Noisewater was not a man to lose his temper but if young Dr. Ken would turn that antenna rotor more than an 1/8 per turn, there would be holy hell to pay if young Dr. Ken got impatient and went straight from E to S. YOU'RE GOING TO BREAK THAT THING!! or IT'S TOO WINDY! STOP MOVING IT!!. Suffice it to say, it rarely moved from NE. |

For radio, we got the main AM Stations but nothing from FM in Chicago. Didn't hear Steve and Garry until they moved to AM. |

Kinda figured you had one of the big directional ones. Antennae that is. For TV, not like alien antennae. That would be weird. I don’t think 30 or so miles do the west we’d have the Chicago option but we do get those sweet, sweet quad cities stations. |

I think from minute 1-4 at the start of that podcast episode was the best produced (probably over-produced but I liked it) thing I did in that series. That took a while for a 3 minute piece. |

Christ, if I knew how to do it, I would! These were great. I still listen to them. I don’t. I had to listen to them 10-15 times each to put cuts in but I’m a perfectionist. Not a good perfectionist, just one. I can think of about 20 segments I remember almost verbatim. |
