I'm not talking standard athletic compression socks. I'm talking full on medical grade diabetic compression socks. I am speaking from experience.
It'd be important for a multi hour flight. A 2k mile road trip, even more important.
I am a fan of the Bombas knee high compression socks. I bought a three pack six weeks ago and they are excellent. They deal with sweat better than the standard medical compression socks. I have had a DVT in one leg with damage around the knee, and the Bombas are great for a flight or for playing golf.
For driving, it's important to keep circulation going. Stop the car every 90 minutes to go inside to take a piss or even just walk and stretch for 4-5 minutes.
