Nice to see Jason Day playing well again. His swing looks a bit truncated due to his back injury, especially his follow thru. Hopefully, he hangs in there over the weekend and gets the win.

The follow thru tells me he is really working on controlling distance and ball flight.

Weird. It works for me. Go to ESPN's site and to their golf page. I think the article is there.

Didn't watch any of the tournament this weekend but I see Max Homa won. He is one of the young guns who I really enjoy watching so happy for him. This week they have a TPC that usually the guys can go pretty low on. Big tune up for the PGA the following weekend. Also I see Morgan Hoffmann is in the field again so I will be rooting for him.

The PGA Tour has denied releases to the players looking to play in the first event of the Saudi Arabian-financed LIV Golf Invitational Series, according to a memo obtained by ESPN.

The debut tournament, set to take place in London from June 9-11, coincides with the PGA Tour's RBC Canadian Open that week. As a result, PGA Tour players would have to be granted a release from the tour to compete in the LIV tournament.

The battle begins, curious to see how it plays out. I expect the answer on the DP World Tour will be the same thing.

Opening round 60 for Munoz. Yowsers. I guess Hoffmann isn't in the field after all. I read that he was but don't see him anywhere on the leaderboard.

He has shot 60 twice this year, that is pretty crazy.

Jay Monahan and Tiger Woods are extremely tight, never more evident than his comments today in regards to the Mickelson situation. I loved how Tiger handled it.

Now there are reports out there that LIV is set to drop Greg Norman. What a fiasco

DJ...wow! Take $20 mil plus and ride off into the sunset partying with Paulina on yachts and snorting cocaine. Probably dead by 60, but he will have a hell of a ride.

Yeah so much for his statement and supporting the PGA Tour, my guess is he got around a $100 Million.

That would be hard for anyone to pass up. I can't fault guys for jumping to take that kind of bread, or for wanting to cement their legacy on the PGA. For younger guys like JT or Schauffle, sure it makes sense to stick with the PGA.

RBC has apparently cut ties with DJ also, I assume McDowell too.

The Memorial is always a good tournament at a strong golf course and top notch field. Pretty nice 3 week stretch with this one, the Canadian Open and then the U.S. Open Fathers Day weekend.

I was just going to ask about the course, how does it stack up to other regular tour stops in terms of difficulty ? Middle of the pack ?

I'd say it is a bit more on the difficult side in terms of courses these guys play. I was looking at past winners and -12 to -15 usually puts you in the mix to win. It's a pretty good test right before the US Open which MANY would believe is the hardest set up in golf.

So Phil is going to the LIV tour. Supposedly getting $200M. DJ doing the same. I guess if I were in their shoes I would follow the money, but I’d like to think guys with generational wealth would stay with the tour.

They’re giving up a lot (at least on DJ’s part) to make money their kids’ kids won’t spend. I get it for guys like Na and the middle aged Europeans.

Yeah, it’s sort of sad. Like when guys went to the USFL for more money than the NFL, but it was an inferior product.

I hope this LIV tour dies.

They should take the money. They aren't doing anything illegal. We've all directly or indirectly received pay from shitty or bad people. Their obligation is to provide for their family.

Exactly. The woke women's soccer team is more than happy to take the money from Qatar for the next World Cup. Why shouldn't Phil Mickelson be allowed to set up his kids a college fund with oil money?
