I like Westwood and all, but.I never find myself rooting for him. I realize he just made a huge putt, but that is the weakest part of his game and Furious shuns substandard putters on tour.

Every step Dechambeau takes I root for a sprained ankle. I don’t know if I have ever disliked a golfer as much as him.

I think she may be affiliated with Golf Channel for the European events.

Westwood also had a golden opportunity at a low number that I number 16, and he pissed all over it.

And now he's in a divot with a great drive on 18. What an awful break.

Worst rule in golf. Why isn't a divot ground under repair? It literally is ground under repair. Makes no sense.

With the drop Bryson was able to take on 16, it seems like this would be a common-sense rule to change as well. Drop the ball on Fairway a few feet behind the divot.

If you're in the rough and end up in a divot or some chewed-up grass, then play it as it lies. In the middle of the Fairway you should be able to drop I agree.

After hearing Dechambeau talk about Arnold Palmer In that clip, I dislike him a little less. That was some good stuff that seemed very genuine.

After asking for relief from that sprinkler head, then taking a line way to the right, that clip did nothing to make me hate him less.

For the everyday type player and amateur tournaments I couldn't agree more. I could see the pro's trying to take advantage of any lie they deem "ground under repair".
Let'em hit out of a divot. Everyone takes the same risk. I played in a state am qualifier like 4 years ago or so and hit a second shot on a par 5 to about 100 yards in the
middle of the fairway. Landed in a huge divot that hadn't been replaced. Half the ball was below the fairway. Somehow I gouged a sand wedge out of there and put the ball
on the green. One of the more memorable shots I've had in recent years. I always play horrible at those things. I just don't find trying to grind out pars in competition and
6 hour rounds fun.

Back in 1994 I caddied for my buddy in the state am finals at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See in Rockford. Another buddy of ours caddied for a friend who also qualified for the finals. We saw them on adjacent fairways and waived to each other. Some rules official came over and started accusing us of giving signals about the green. It was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

I get what you are saying Tbone. Pros are on a different level and I could definitely see some players trying to skirt things here and there with a "ground under repair" rule. I think it would be a no-brainer on the Westwood divot yesterday, though.

Bryson also had some comments after the round about Tiger and Arnold Palmer that I also think were very heartfelt and genuine. I am not a fan and he definitely comes across as a douche at time, but I cannot deny the man's work ethic. He's always grinding out ways trying to figure out how to get more yardage and clubhead speed. He seems to be relentless in the way that Tiger and Michael Jordan were. Its impossible to knock that for sure.

I didn't see the back nine, any highlights or interviews. I respect they way that Bryson is doing things his own way, the way he changed his body. I don't really agree with those super oversized grips on his woods and irons. I am intrigued to try them but to me that seems to be a little unfair. He definitely brings that grip it and rip it style like Daly did way back in the early 90s but puts him to shame. Kinda shows what the equipment of today brings and the physical strength of today's pro golfers as well. I think Rory McIlroys tee shots on #6 summed it up when it tried to cut the corner twice with everything he had and dunked two of them in the water. They were close but not nearly what Bryson has.

DeChambeau's short game was really good yesterday. His putter is what actually kept him at the top of the leaderboard. He two putted a few crucial greens, and drained two long (25'+) par putts in the middle of the round.

I agree that he has a nice short game. He is often hitting so much less club into greens that his margin of error is much greater. We all know it's easier to hit a 7 iron rather than a 4 or even a 5 iron in. I realize it often evens out because 350 yards crooked still will give you distinct challenges but on some courses he is hitting it past where the trouble has been designed to lie.

I just saw something on Golf Channel that they’re making something ( on 18 ? ) at TPC this week out of bounds to prevent Bryson from cutting it off and driving it . What bullshit .

Had the same thing last week and other courses and tournaments have done it. Sony Open did the same thing earlier this year.

They are talking about making the left side of the lake, which is actually next to the 9th hole, out of bounds. Its fine.

Stick to the July thread.

Rogue, they did this last week, again they did it at the Sony Open and guess what, Bryson wasn't even in the field.
