It was fun. My opponent didn't play very well on the first few holes, but I shot a 37 on the front nine dammit. We finally pushed a hole on the 7th, and on the 8th he put it to about 20'. I then put it to 10'. He missed his put and I rolled my birdie putt in. I knew he was done once that putt dropped. After that I told myself to just halve holes as he would run of them eventually. We pushed 9 and 10 and I made par to his bogey on 11 to close the match.

I will report back once I receive a similar beat down in the next round.

Looking forward to being first off the next two mornings. I am on my own both days which means I could be done as early as 9 am. Curious to see if I can get the old driver working and sell the SLDR

Not that we couldn't have planned things outside of this board, but if any of the regulars want to get out for a round in a couple weeks, hit me up.

I'm not hard to find.

Broke and dislocated my thumb on Saturday afternoon. Awesome! 6-8 weeks for full recovery but undoubtedly will be pushing the
envelope to get out there sooner, maybe as early as the end of this month if I can grip the club. Very frustrating.

Even 90 at River Oaks at the crack of dawn on Saturday. I sank a few putts and hit the ball better than I did the previous week, so there were baby steps of improvement. I had one birdie that was simply dumb luck. Chunked a 7 iron off the tee at a par 3. It bounced on the cart path then onto the green to about 12'. Second time this year a dreadful shot has ended up near the pin on a par 3 due to pure luck. My distances are all out of whack. One time I'll hit a 9 iron 120 yards. The next time I'll hit it 140, with what feels like the same swing and same sort of ball flight. Obviously I am not hitting my irons with consistency.

92 at Prarie Vista. Had three 7's and 4 3 putts. I've knocked off 12 shots from my 1st round so hopefully this will continue.

Me and the wife hit up Coyote Run yesterday. Like the course, but that will be our last round there of the year. No rangers anywhere to be seen, 2.5 hours to finish the front on a Sunday afternoon. Back opened up and we finished 4.5 hours in total, way too long for a non prime time tee time.

Course was in good shape except for some punch marks on the green, they must've aerated a week or two ago cause the holes are almost gone.

I knew I was gonna play well. Took the dog for a nice walk before leaving and spent a good 45 minutes during that time just focusing on all the swings I would be taking later in the day. Paid off on the course as I birdied #1 and was -1 through 4 from the tips (6500 yards). Wind was brutal and bogeyed a 210 yard par 3 into the wind get back to even.

Next hole the idiots behind us drove up right on my bumper while I was getting ready to tee off. Of course they start talking during my swing, I had to pull out of the swing during the backswing. Gave them a dirty look and then proceeded to pop up my driver. Made a great recovery to get near the green from 200 out, but bogeyed the hole. Birdied 9 to finish the front at 1 over 37.

Had one horrible swing on the back that cost me from having a truly epic round. 12th hole, I rip my best drive of the day, 275 yards. I'm a PW out, proceed to chunk it so bad there's a 2 inch deep divot. Goes 50 yards into a pond. Easily the worst iron shot I've had all season by a wide margin. I feel like I could take that same shot 100 times and maybe do that once. Anyway, great SW to 12 feet and then I proceeded to 3 putt for a triple, only score on my card above bogey. Finished strong with 3 pars to card a 78, my first round under 80 this year. My first round under 83 this year to be more specific.

Wife played great too....shot her career best 113! She had never been under 120 before.

I used this guy today. Top notch. I was given some Amazon gift cards so I got some new grips. $2 install per grip. He sell grips too. I know of you do you own, but for those who do not you cannot beat paying a few bucks and all you have to do is put your golfbag in the driveway.

Golfing Saturday and Sunday as my parents are in town for a visit. Going to give it a go with
The broken thumb. Took a few swings yesterday and the best I can do is a swing akin to
Chipping out from under a tree. I think I can probably push the ball out there 100 yds or
So with a 5 iron. Should be interesting.

Good luck TBone. Don't hurt yourself even further where you have to put the sticks away for a long time.

shakes, sorry to hear about Coyote. I play there 6-10 times a year and always have great service in the pro shop and out on the course. I know the Saturday starter/ranger there, Robert, and he doesn't let any bullshit fly. I've seen him make groups pick up and move on a few times. He's also forced groups to let my group play thru, as our usual 4some there can get around in 3 hours if we aren't held up. Maybe it was just a bad day.

I'll be playing there tomorrow as I have a gift certificate to use. Since its a shorter and more scorable course than I've played the last couple of times out, hopefully my score will be a bit better. My Dad played there earlier this week and said the greens are lightning quick.

Yeah, I realize I am pushing it a bit after just a week after the break. If it doesn't feel good I will pick up and just chip and putt
and walk the course with my folks who will be in a cart. I don't want to set myself back if I can avoid it but I don't want to
just walk along either so I will give it a try. It's a frustrating injury because it is like breaking a toe or something in which
there is nothing they can do to help the healing along. It hurts just bad enough that I can't take any more than a half swing
at best. Still hoping for a July 4th weekend return but that may be optimistic.

Just don't dig the club into the ground to cause more strain on it. Can you swing without your thumb on the club?

Yes, I may actually be trying to hit out of the light rough so I can prop up the ball a bit. I shouldn't get too much digging since I can't get the
club past my waist. Just going to be little chippy and bump and run shots down each hole. At least that is how I envision it. Not sure how I
could swing without the thumb on the club unless it were to piggyback on the right hand somehow. That actually may cause a bit more strain
on it. At least underneath the right hand the thumb will stay trapped and secure. Really no idea how it will work out. Should be a pretty close
match with my mom playing this way!

Even 90 at Coyote Run this AM. Good drives, decent putting and chipping, not real good irons. 3 lost balls really hurt me. I had to deal with the same pace issues that shakes did, and while that generally does not bother me for some reason today it really did and I never got into a rhythym, especially on the back 9. Kinda of a ho hum day.

Played from senior tees and after a few holes made adjustments to make the half swing work.
Able to hit crossover iron 200 off tee and five iron about 150 max. No control aiming the irons but if I could get it close to the green putting and chipping were pretty normal. Dropped two out of the sand so I didn't have to dig the club. Shot a 79 with the short tees and free drops. I am going to move back a set of tees today and if I break 86 I'll be happy. Thumb is sore and I hit a few "stingers" but thrilled I can still play with the broken finger.

86 from the whites which is 6600 yds. Couple rough holes but again happy to be able to play.
Really puts pressure on short game but it's fun having to not be able to overpower a hole and
Think my way around a bit more. Impossible to spin the ball so balls were bouncing off the back of the green.

Man my game sure went to crap over the weekend.

Started with bad putting. Played Friday and Saturday without registering a 1-putt. 40 and 39 putts respectively. Managed a 93 and 88 at Glencoe and Deerfield.

Sunday putted a little better with "only" 34 putts, but did miss two putts inside 2 feet. Lost my way with the driver Sunday, went from hitting close to 80% of fairways the last couple week to only landing in 3 of them on Sunday at Ravisloe. Ended up with an 88, 11 strokes worse than the last time I was out there.

Already feel like my back is starting to break down from too much play. That's not a good sign. Fat shots and even my first shank of the year showed up the last couple days. Probably shouldn't have played Saturday. Took me 4 hours and 2 Cataflans just to be able to get dressed and out of the house. Sunday wasn't much better.

Back actually feels good today though which is good cause I'm at it again tomorrow for an outing at Cog (ravines).

I have another appointment with the hand specialist tomorrow. 8 weeks of rest hasn't done jack. It still hurts anytime I put pressure on it, no matter how minimal. Drying my hands with a towel hurts tremendously.

I still haven't golfed this year.

Taking advantage of the early sunlight. Should be able to get out by 5:30-5:45 each morning. Weather looks gorgeous.

My doctor is calling for an MRI, once the insurance company gives them the green light. It's nice to know that the recommendation of a trained orthopedist isn't enough. United Health Care gets to have an opinion on the matter.

He was doing range of motion tests on my thumb, and it was making a clicking sound at one of the joints.

After the MRI, I will most likely be looking at a steroid injection or surgery.

Very sorry to hear about the injury. I've been finding out 1st hand what it is like to have limited use of your left thumb the last few weeks.
Seems to be healing but still hurts and has limited motion. I hope you find out some good news and thankfully it isn't keeping you
back from bowling or masturbating on a regular basis.
