Looking like kinda sketchy weather down there for Masters week. 90% chance of rain with thunderstorms on Monday when I have
practice day tickets. My hopes now are that we are able to hustle and see most of the course by around noon and if it starts to
thunder and lightning and they close the course at least we will have seen a lot of it. I will be really disappointed if the weather
keeps us off the course altogether. Will be a big loss all around.

On a lighter note they played an hour recap of the 1997 Masters last night on Golf Channel. Was fun to see a really young Tiger
and some of the old players from the late nineties on the leaderboard including Tom Kite and Tom Watson.

I watched, thanks for letting me know. Tiger had 50lbs less of muscle than he did later in his career back then, crazy to see how scrawny he was.

I sure hope the weather holds out for TBone while he is on the hallowed grounds today.

They just closed the course about 20 minutes ago, poor T-bone. :(

Yeah I saw that. I wonder if it will re-open later in the day. I feel genuine sadness for TBone and all of the other people there. What a shitty way to have your trip turn out.

The weather does not look good for retard on Wednesday either. I will keep my fingers crossed for him.

I drove to Augusta 10 years ago, only to have them cancel the practice round. Never even saw the course.

I've told the story before. First time a practice round was cancelled.

I'm concerned T-Bone might not be focused on exercising his right to vote.

If the wind gusts on Thursday are as they are saying, I don't know how they are going to keep the golf ball from rolling all over those greens.

Got to the course at 7 and did the pro shop for 45 minutes and they opened at 8. We got in 4 hours and then 45 more when they opened back up before closing for the day. Disappointing because we spent a lot for the tickets but happy that I was able to walk the course with my wife and show her why it is such a special place. Highlights were Amen Corner and watching the boys skip balls on 16. She loved shopping with my mom :eye: . Spent a bit on some gear and picked up a few items for others. No need to go back again anytime soon as it was an expensive excursion but it was one to scratch off the list. My dad will be here in early June for our next golf adventure. The course looked as incredible as I remember. TV does that place a bit of injustice.

Someone on the podcast (I forget who?) said something to the effect of God invented HD TV for The Masters. I don't think there is a single sport that has benefited as much from HD than golf. That being said, I imagine Augusta is similar to the Grand Canyon -- you can see it on TV, but it is different to see it in person, and hard to describe why.

Really glad you got a few hours in TBone. Also worked out for you that it wasn't your first trip. Hope you enjoyed the hell out of your time there,

Still have my fingers crossed for retard. Looks like they might have to ixnay the Par 3 contest, but hoping he can get onto the course for ~half a day.

Until you actually walk the hills, see the slopes and try to wrap your head around the green complexes TV will not really capture what it is
like there. It's like a putt putt course in many ways. I can't imagine what it would be like to play. I never saw a blade of grass out of place
there. Ridiculous. We split up with my parents when they let us back in. My folks went to the range and we walked 1-4 before being called
off again. My dad ran into the caddie master and said I would have been able to get into the caddie house for a tour but missed the opportunity.
That would have been cool.

Hope they can get the par 3 in. That course is also pretty cool from what I saw.

That is so weird that you are only able to get one day ticket after so much trouble then not even a half day rain check or something.

I believe if the entire day is cancelled or its called very early, they give you the opportunity to purchase tickets again for next year. IIRC, that is what happened to FuriousStyles.

The weather down there today does not look good at all. They might have to shut down for the day around 10 :(

One of the highlights for me on the shortened day was at the concession stand. I made the wise decision to buy a Georgia Peach
Ice Cream Sandwich. It was two sugar cookies with peach ice cream. Holy shit was that good. Relatively expensive for $3.00 but
completely worth it.

Sadly, no. I was using someone else's ticket.

Going to do what I can to get there in the next year or two.

Yeah, if our day would have been rained out the broker we got the ticket from would have gotten the Raincheck. Anyone interested should
continue to enter the lottery to win tickets.

So I missed it. Lay out for me the numbers. How much for tickets and how far in advance do you lay out the dough? Basically, help me plan a trip for this for two financially.

Face value tickets are $60 for practice rounds and $100 for the tournament. On the secondary market, practice round tickets are easily $500+ and tournament tickets can go for well over $1000. The lottery is usually done in mid July, and if you win you have about 3-4 weeks to buy the tickets direct for ANGC. That is about when they would go up online or at brokers. Tickets are sent out in Late Feb/early Mar so that is when the broker would get them, and then send to you.

If you go down there, your best bet is to stay elsewhere (at least 45-60min away) unless you have connections for affordable lodging. A simple 'Motel 6' type place in/near Augusta during Masters week will easily run you $300+ per night. Last year I found a great deal on Hotwire for a Wyndham in Columbia SC for a grand total of $160 for 3 nights. This was about an hour away, and was a great town to spend a weekend in.

The prices for merchandise in the golf store is on par with other sporting events and concerts, $60 shirts & hoodies, $40 for an Augusta flag, $40-60 for pint/wine glasses, etc. There are cheaper options like ball markers (Set of 4) and beer koozies (set of 2) for $20. The concessions are dirt cheap comparatively; $4 for light beer, $5 for Stella/Blue moon, $2 soft drinks, $1.50-$3.00 sandwiches, $1-3.00 snacks, $1.50 for coffee and breakfast items. I remember last year around the middle of the day, I went into the concession tent and got a beer, two sandwiches, a gatorade for my wife, and I got change back from a ten dollar bill.

Frank is pretty close on all of his info above. The face value on the tickets were $65 this year. Maybe they went up, not sure. He is pretty right
on about the secondary market for the tickets as well. They are incredibly expensive, and again, if you get rained out, you are shit out of luck. The
gear in the shop is not crazy expensive compared to other places. Hats are around $25-30, a flag will set you back $25. Polo shirts range depending
on what kind you want from $60-$115 each I think. Anything you can imagine that has a Masters logo on it they offer up. I bought a nice t-shirt
and didn't even look at the price until later ( $35). It is Thunderdome in there and the lines are crazy long to buy shit. Concessions are cheap like
Frank said. I would have bought more stuff if I had time to browse but I was on a mission to get some things for people and myself and get the hell
out of there before it got completely nuts.
