My wife has to work late tonight, so after I got my kid on the bus at 12:15, I went and pre-bowled for tonight's games.

289-240-212--741. 25 strikes. 3 opens, all splits. My average is up to 219.65.

I absolutely hammered the first ten in game one. Not a cheap one in the bunch. The 11th was solid as well, and of course, the 10-pin stood.

267-212-224--703. This is the second time this year that I have rolled 30 clean frames. This was my sixth 700 series of the year, including back to back weeks. We took 5 of 7 to keep our three point lead with three weeks remaining. My average is up to 220.26 after 72 games.

:salut:

I shot 630 last night...couldn't keep up with how fast they dried out the 3rd game...we got swept and continued our nosedive to the consolation bracket.

Averaging 202 on Tuesday and 213 on Sunday morning

You should have the entire team over to your house, wear golds shirts, and take turns raising 5 teeny tiny flags in your backyard

Chus and Boyd, I am totally impressed with how good you guys are.
How much better do you have to be to turn pro?
I am serious about this.

I don't remember the requirements at this point, but even if I were averaging high enough (I'm not), I wouldn't want to. Pro bowling is a tough living, and I have young kids at home. I'd rather spend time with the , bowl on league nights and the occasional tournament. It's much more fun for me than to be a bottom feeding regional pro.

One of the big differences is the oil on the lanes. Much like the Masters has the greens cut down so they roll forever, they setup the oil patterns to not favor the bowler, while the normal bowling league has it setup to favor the bowler. I don't want this misconstrued -- a league bowler who hits a 300 is pulling off a pretty impressive feat, but it is a completely different thing with PBA oil and PBA pressure. There's been maybe 7 or 8 since 2003.

I would get destroyed if I bowled against professionals.

Maybe I am remembering wrong. I thought he challenged both of us to bowl at one point?

He challenged you, but he backed down when I challenged him. He was feeling his oats after beating women in a mixed league.

If he challenged me, this would have happened.

The challenge might have been accepted, but the actual bowling would not have taken place because Steve would not show up.

Finished my Sunday league this past week with a solid 695...shot 279 the 1st...screwed over by a slightly off spot 5 pin that I managed to spin and not have fall. Oh well. 214 average to finish the year in that one. Now for a week or 2 off then prep for Nationals.

I can't imagine how I'd feel if I actually bowled even a 200.

Nevermind, it'd probably be like the first time(of a whopping two) I dunked a basketball. Memories

i have a friend who is a former pro bowler, and actually has 2 lanes in his house (which is pretty fucking cool, i have to tell you). I have watched him practice at his home and also bowl leagues our local bowling center and there is no comparison between him and even the best of our league bowlers. I didn't bowl this year, but in the previous year i believe his average on our house shot was 240, or well into the 230's at least ( i cant remember specifically where it ended up). He had to shoot 700+ weekly to hold average. his major motivation in the league was to have some fun and to get 800. At his home he sets up whatever shot he wants on his lanes to prepare for whatever USBC Masters tournament is coming up and practices like you wouldn't believe.

at my best i am a 205-210 average bowler (certainly not on Chus' level) on a house shot and there is not a chance on EARTH in ANY situation I could stay with him. And even if i was having a freak "great" series, he would pull out his game face and destroy me.

Off to Vegas for the USBC Nationals tomorrow. Excited considering I broke my fucking foot 48 hours before flying out last year.

So Nationals was quite the experience this year. Hardest shot I've ever thrown on...no play outside of 7-8 for the team squad, and nothing outside 10 for singles/doubles. I had a decent line but no carry, and the adjustments for spare shooting were brutal. Ranged 160-210 over 9 games...which was about normal for my group. Had a couple of guys with averages higher than mine shoot 114 & 118 during doubles. Fun experience as always, really enjoyed the Irish Pub at New York New York and the Goose Island Pub at the Hard Rock.

Threw 5 bucks on the Bears at 125-1 for shits and grins, too.

Tournament shots are tough. We bowled in the IL state team tournament a few years back. All five of us averaged higher than 200, but we only had a few games over 200 all day.

The last time I bowled state was 2014. Probably the easiest tournament shot I ever had...we were on wood, and they only laid oil down every other squad. We bowled 9 games in a day...team was on the dry lanes, shot about 550...singles/doubles on fresh oil and I shot combined 1300 for 6 games.

I bowled the Lake County tournament this year, and the shot wasn't bad.
