46 last night walking nine. Was hot and the course was the worst I had played in a long time. Anyway, been going with an old Burner driver I had mentioned a little bit ago and it seems to be better than what I was using. One problem. When you drive that much better and follow up with a second shot I usually am pretty good at you end up with a new problem.

I am using short clubs that I have not had to use in a while. I hit them fine really but all guesses at distance are off and of course I cannot pitch, chip, lob from real close in worth a shit.

Cart path only is the worst.

I enjoy walking so it wasn't a huge deal but this place has pretty expansive fairways and it seemed like no matter what, one of us was having
to trudge 50 yards to walk over to our ball to assess the situation with a few clubs in tow. We had the course to ourselves until the last 5 holes
or so and it still took 4.5 hours to play because of all the hiking around.

It's slower than just walking and it doesn't seem to matter how many clubs you bring with you, by the time you get to your ball you don't have the one you need.

First one out this morning at 7:40, took my time and still finished in 2:20. Game not nearly as sharp as yesterday, but did manage to keep it in the 80s. 44-45-89. Back at it again tomorrow and Saturday and then playing in the club championship on Sunday and then member Labor Day scramble on Monday. Second place gets paid, first place buys everyone else breakfast.

As I’m typing this lakeside a bald eagle just flew overhead. Pretty cool.

Was able to get rounds in Sunday and yesterday. Played 6 holes on Saturday before the skies opened up on us and had to take a rain check.
As much as it sucks to play when it is wet it is funny how it usually helps keep the ball where you want it to stop off the tee. Looking forward to
a little cooler weather and drier conditions moving forward. A couple of opportunities to play in scramble events the next two months

Another 92 at Silver Lake North on Saturday afternoon. Walked on with my Dad at 3:20, got around in just under 3 hours. Still having some issues with the driver, but I was money with an iron or wedge into greens. The AM rains left the course wet, but not unplayable by any means and carts were still allowed at 90 degree. With the little one arriving any day now, I'm figuring I'll only get out 2 or 3 more times before the weather really turns. Its been nice to get some some good shots under my belt after really struggling thru the middle of summer.

Woke up Saturday to the news that Khalil Mack had been traded.

To the Bears.

Too depressed to play.

A little too much golf for me over the weekend. Played Wed and Thursday as documented and then played Friday with the wife and shot a 86. Saturday played in the Club Championship and shot a 86 thanks to my incredible ability to lose all focus at any distraction. Played as a single and was playing well and really taking my time on every shot and putt, was even leading the tourney after 1 hole with a -1 :). Then I played through a 4 some and rushed my way to a double bogey. Later on I played through a 5 some who stood on the tee box with me joking around as I hit. Of course I joined in the joking and proceeded to double bogey that hole as well. Later I joined up with 2 guys who work at the course for the last 4 holes and played those holes at 5 over.
Some sandbagger won the net portion with an 80 with a supposed 20 handicap. I think 75 won the gross.

Next day went to play again early in the AM and my back told me to fuck off. Started shanking again and shot a 46 on the front before calling it a day.

Was supposed to play in member's scramble yesterday, but back was once again saying fuck off so called it a day.

Weather looks glorious this weekend for walking and golfing. Got a text yesterday inviting me to play in the annual Ryder Cup event
up here. Basically the pros from each course ask some of the regulars to represent them in two days of competition. I think one day
might be best ball and the other match play. I haven't played for a few years. Nice to be asked anyway.

Found a gently used R11S and proceeded to card a 43. I was playing with the adjustments and weights but am pretty happy with it. If the shit hole course had anything resembling a real green that is taken care of it may have been a record 9.

As much as I love fall golf and am having a decent season I decided yesterday that I am going to hang up the clubs after this weekend. There are
some other things I want to accomplish and golf isn't helping me reach those goals. Best of luck to everyone else these next few months.

I just want to focus on my health and family this fall. I'll have 52 rounds in after this weekend and that is plenty. Just feel like golf was kind of taking
over my life, especially on the weekends. This gives me almost a 2 month headstart to make some changes. Most people would say you could do both at the same time but I have tried that and I have to do one or the other.

In the same boat as T-bone pretty much.

Had an abbreviated season as it is and had another multi month long bout with the shanks. Once again changed my entire golf swing (maybe 5th time I've done that in last 6 years) and I think I finally found a swing that can help me avoid shanks.

Now I need to get the right equipment. Really need new lighter irons. I'm the last person who should be swinging 120 gram shafts. Gonna get fitted this winter for the new Mizuno 919s and am hoping the properly fitted clubs will help with my swing.

For now, I'm more focused on hockey and losing the weight I gained this year. Skating 2x per week and that will move up to 3x per week in a couple more weeks.

This thread is so depressing.

Hopefully, no hanging up the clubs for me ever again. Golf has become a year-round endeavor. I really enjoy fall golf, especially the price and pace of play.

Plus, my hands are starting to show some Ill effects of going over the handlebars on my bicycle 5 years ago. Serious loss of strength in right hand when it comes to grip (much preferable to the left). Need to get it checked out over the winter.

Lastly, I simply cannot root for any professional playing PXG clubs. Sorry, Billy Ho, everything about the company screams "DOUCHE!"

I see they have a Northbrook location, shakes. Have you scheduled a fitting?

Probably gonna do the fitting with Todd Sones. No rush, I'll do it sometime in the winter.

82 or 83 at Bartlett Hills on Friday (not sure of my score on 17). Decent day ballstriking, but couldn't get the putter going. Had a case of the lefts off the tee on a few holes. Tee placements were ridiculous on a couple of holes and others I simply misread.

Shanked a shot for the first time in a few seasons. It really is an awful feeling. Also, got hit in the head by a golf ball. Alleged errant toss by my playing partner. Seems suspect.

Concussion protocol ended with Titos on the rocks, no fruit.

78-76 this weekend. My putter kind of left me and wasn't able to score like I have in the past few weeks. Yesterday I was one over going into
9 and hit the green in reg. I had an awful downhill sidehill putt. Left the first short, blasted the next past and missed the come backer. 4 putt.
Battled back and played even par golf the next 6 holes only to blast a drive into the trees and then took two to get out and made a double on a
par 5. Didn't help the back nine was aerated so I was thrilled to birdie 18 on very bumpy greens. I'm taking the next 3 weeks off. I figured my
season would be over but I felt bad leaving my group out to hang at the year end scramble with a chance to win a free pass so I told them I would
play in that.

Being the worst Jew ever I took adavantage of the day off yesterday to get in one last round of golf. Played at Chevy Chase. Place was beat to shit from flooding earlier this summer. Several holes had massive unplayable chunks of fairway marked as GUR, some holes the hole fairway was GUR. Many holes cart part only. Greens were in decent shape though. Considering I had hockey the night before and could barely move I played pretty good. Shot a 86 with 2 birdies including a chip in birdie. had a couple OB drives which is pretty rare for me, had a few 3 putts not so rare. Playing with a buddy who was on the phone most of the round and shot around 120 which threw me off my game a bit as well.

Hit every long iron fat, but no shanks all day. Felt good to end the season on that note.

Looking forward to getting new irons in the offseason.

Got out Thursday and saw a bit of everything with my game at Broken Arrow. Stared out strong with two pars, then put up an 8 on a par 5. Continued to play well, then had the wheels fall off and I put up a 9, back to back doubles, parred a short par 3, then a 10 on a par 5. Finished bogey, par, bogey so sort of happy with a relatively good finish. had a 45 even with the 8 and 9 on the front, but then a 56 on the back. Chipped well, putting was not so hot. Driver was either bombed down the middle, or dubbed 100' in front of the tee. Irons we either within 15' of the flag, or 20 yards right of the green. Consistently inconsistent has been the story of the my game this season. It is fairly maddening to rip a drive way out there, put a gap wedge to 10', drain the birdie putt, only to duff and shank my way to a 9 on the next hole. Probably will only be able to get out 2 or 3 more times before the winter sets in. At least I had a birdie and a few pars, and beat the heat on Thursday.

As I wrap up the season just looking back and thinking about what equipment changes I might make. Kind of tradition for me to mix things up
every year. Not sure if anyone else is looking to tweak things a bit. My biggest question lies with the almost 25 year old Ping Zing 2 one iron
that I game every weekend. I have been trying to find a solution and replacement for it for years and can't find anything I hit as well as that
thing. Can usually put it out there 235-240, sometimes a little better but usually keep it in or near the fairway. Bought an Adams driving iron a
few years ago and traded it after one year. I have had two different long irons in the bag the past couple of years, one I love and one I think
I am going to get rid of. LOVE my Titleist T-MB 4 iron, have mixed feelings about my PING Crossover 4-iron ( carry two 4's because the PING
is lofted like a 3-iron ). Can't hit the Crossover out of the rough well at all and it has a dead feeling and strange sound when I hit it.

Anyway my current thoughts are to dump the Crossover and maybe the 1-iron. Possible replacements look like maybe the TaylorMade GAPR
Lo which comes in at 17 degrees but can be adjusted up or down 1.5 degrees. The 1-iron I have now is 16. I worry that because of the
SpeedFoam and shape, it will be very much like my past experiments with modern driving irons and not have the kind of feel I want. The
other option is to buy the 2 and 3 iron T-MB's which would be 17 and 20 degrees and then I would have a full arsenal. The Titleist has also
come in really handy for me getting out of trouble and under tree limbs. I'll likely go to the cage in either early winter or in Jan/Feb and
see how the numbers look.

Edit - there is a chance I will need to drive up to Milwaukee for work today and on the way back I could possibly jump in the cage to try these
out if they have them in stock. 8)

Stopped at Golf Galaxy for 15 minutes yesterday on my way up to our plant in Milwaukee. They had the clubs I was interested in the Demo
bag. I didn't hit any of them well. They didn't have a proper tee height so I was trying to hit all of them off the ground in my work clothes
with no warm up so it really wasn't a very good session from the beginning. The T-MB's had some kind of Project X shaft in them that I didn't
care for. The one I have has a True Temper stepped steel shaft. The Taylor Made was very much like what I have had in the past from the
looks dept. Long story short, it was a fleeting thought and I will re-visit over the winter after I take a break from golf for a few months.
Also considering replacing my PW from the Mizuno set with a similarly lofted Vokey.

Finally got out to the Preserve at Oak Meadows on Sunday. The redesign is pretty cool. White sand with many risk/reward opportunities throughout. They didn't address the flooding situation like they had hoped, so I waited until I heard about the recent conditions being tolerable. It's still basically a controlled swamp.

Went 44/47/91 from the black tees (around 6600 yds.). Birdied #1, hit a perfect drive on the #2 par 5. Puckered up when I saw my next shot- 244 to the green vs. layup around 180 with water everywhere. The layup shot didn't suit my eye. Let's just say It didn't go very well after that. You really have to think your way around most of the course. Would love to see how someone like T-Bone tackles some of the risk/reward chances.

Got paired up with a fan of Greenbush Brewing Company and green bud. We had a good time.

Definitely see playing better now that I know the course a bit. 20 minutes from the crib makes it ideal.
