I have been a New Balance customer for a long time. But more and more, the company has been using foam as materials in their soles, and I think foam sucks and is cheap. I just picked up a new pair of 857 cross trainers, and most of the sole is foam, whereas my last pair from two years ago had a rubber sole.

All these apparel companies don't give a shit about quality anymore. Now what we get are polyester shirts and foam shoes. Who wants moon shoes with thick foam soles as running shoes or cross trainers??

Any other brands you guys would recommend for someone with large feet? I haven't worn Nike's for a long-time, and in my experience they run small. Adidas, too. What about Brooks or Asics?

I have been noticing these shoes called Kuru. I want to try them as they claim perfect soles and are a small company. I have been having a foot problem.

I have a foot problem as well, bruising of the toe mound on my right foot from running. So they tell you to change shoes. But what if the shoe is the problem?

Foam soles don't have near the rebound or shock absorption as rubber. You're just asking for a problem with a foam shoe.

That is why I will try these Kurus or whatever they are. GF swears by Brooks for her running and high impact exercise classes.

I'm wearing and older pair of black New Balance 623s today because I'm going to the White Sox game tonight and I don't care if they get wet because I'm almost done with them. I used to get the 800 series, but they aren't worth the price increment any more, I use the black ones primarily for sightseeing and vacations as they go well with both jeans and with black chinos.

Bare feet but earlier it was adidas sambas which is my typical athletic daily wear if I'm in athletic shoes. Or I have some asics running shoes I like too but they are a little garrish.

As long as they last and don't make my feet hurt, I could not care less what my running shoes look like.

i wear new balance minimus 1690's when wearing tennis shoes. i buy them on ebay dirt cheap.

but i generally agree. all the foam use seems like bull shit. we went for the first time in a while to buy all the kids tennis shoes. half these dam things have no rubber on the bottoms!? like its all foam with like 2 patches of rubber tread. like 40-50 dollar running shoes.

I have some Asics for running and jogging and they have been the best shoes I have ever owned for that kind of exercise.

I live near the Nike Outlet in Pleasant Prairie so I have been buying my last few pair of shoes there. I bought a pair of Reebok
ZigTechs or something a few years ago and they fell apart almost immediately so I swore off all other shoes other than Nike.
IF I didn't have that outlet so close I probably wouldn't be as picky. I like runners or cross trainers that are light weight and
easy to get on and off. These are what I have now and are very comfortable.

I've been a Nike brand loyalist for years, made even moreso when they opened a Nike Factory store near me a decade or so ago. All I really wear are running shoes when I have a choice, and I've got a few pairs in rotation that ranged from $35-60 each.

My son got me a pair of addidas awhile back and while they're nice I can't see them holding up the way my Nikes or Asics did when I ran 30-50 miles a week.

I just looked at them. They look like Sketchers and are a little pricey. And for that reason, I am out.

Yes....Brooks Ghost is the best balance of cushion and weight. I started running with Adidas, but noticed a quality drop off about 5 years ago. I tried 2 other Brooks models, but back to the Ghost.

My wife tried a pair of Newtons....they are insanely light. She is happy with them. I'd try a pair of stupid looking Hoka....but I remain skeptical. Don't care how dumb they look as long as they're comfortable for running.

Wore out my previous shoes. Went Air Max this time and I think they will be more durable than the last pair. I think I need to
stay away from the real lightweight shoes as they don't seem to be able to support my weight or the way I wear them. Hopefully
these will last a little longer.
