Or impressive? I could list a couple but don't know enough about golf to say which one is the "Superbowl" of tournaments.

Masters, British (especially at St. Andrews) and despite the bitching...NOT the US Open or PGA.

My favorite is the British but I’m probably in the minority there.

British is more important, but in the US, the Masters would be the most prestigious.

Masters and British are a tie for me. I'd lean toward The Masters.

Television ratings (based on Nielsen numbers in the U.S., 2011-2012):
1. Masters: 8.1 rating
2. U.S. Open: 5.1
3. PGA Championship: 4.3
4. British Open: 2.6

I think the time difference probably plays into this a bit.

Player Preferences (based on a Sports Illustrated survey in April 2014 that asked 50 pros: “Which major would you most like to win?”):
1. Masters 50%
2. British Open 25%
3. U.S. Open 23%
4. PGA Championship 2%

I'm usually up at 5-6am so I love throwing on some live British Open.

Are you interviewing for the Golf Channel?

Or maybe to be a Drink Cart Girl?

Too short and too old to be a drink cart girl.

We started talking about championships and series during the hockey game tonight. They wanted to know what was the most important or best trophy for golf.

If you want to go the snooty route, definitely say the British Open. But just call it The Open. Because that's where it all started and Young Tom Morris agrees with you.

Similarly, if it comes up, it is the Stanley Cup Final (not Finals.)

The ones out here seam to be college aged or octogenarians. Okay, maybe not that old but how ever many years they’ve been alive they’ve been hard ones. They also call everyone honey. Or Hun.

The "Super Bowl" of golf is The Masters, no exceptions. It has become a worldwide phenomenon over the last decade or two.

The 'most important' tournament is probably The (British) Open. It used to be the US Open, but the USGA has really screwed that up in recent years.
