Does anyone care anymore? I guess we will find out soon. Phil and Tiger going to square off on a winner-take-all $10M match.

I guess this is what happens when Tiger can no longer can compete in Majors.

Supposedly they were supposed to play in Vegas this past July 3rd.... I'd definitely check it out but I am a golf nut. I think it would be a lot more
interesting if they were putting up $10 million each of their own money.

From Golf.com

An initial match in Las Vegas — Shadow Creek is the likely venue — is just the beginning of their shared vision. Mickelson says he and Woods hope to play a couple exhibitions a year, around the world. Sometimes they could partner up — depending on how the Ryder Cup goes, it's easy to envision Tiger and Phil taking on two top Europeans (a match with Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter as the opposition could be particularly juicy). Woods and Mickelson are both shrewd businessmen, and they are trying to set up this new venture so they essentially own the matches and thus will get a chunk of the TV revenue, merchandising, and sponsorship dough.

That would be a positive thing.

Looking like this is going to happen Thanksgiving weekend now. Still no real details where the money will be coming from, but my
guess is that sponsors are putting it up.

Yeah no chance it is their money.

Golic actually had a great idea this morning. The loser of this should have to caddie for the winner at the Par 3 Contest next year at Augusta.

Even if it is their own money, the one report I heard said it would be a skins game setup, not 'winner take all'. If it's skins, unless one of them gets completely dominated, the loser would probably "only" lose a few million.

Either way, I'll watch it.

Why would it be their money? Pro golfers don't put up their own money for the prizes.

I was also thinking it has to be done right to avoid someone winning the first part and making it a nothing broadcast in second half.

I think it would be more interesting that way. More pressure.

Tiger's had 4 back surgeries. He's not carrying a bag from the parking lot to the clubhouse, let alone for a round.

I can't believe that they are going to do this as a pay per view event. Curious what they are going to charge. I want to see it but I
am not going to pay to watch. Ridiculous cash grab. Apparently network TV will replay an edited version a few weeks later.

no one is spending money to watch this. I'd watch it if it was free, but wouldn't pay $5 to see it.

My guess is Phil and Tiger balked at using their own money to fund the prize so they are putting the bill on the consumer. Easy pass.

Agreed. It will probably be available to stream anyway if you were that interested in it.

This idea went from cool to terrible.

I'll be watching. Will probably only be $25, or so. They'll be miked up as will their caddies. It will be an entertaining 3 hours.

I won't pay but I wonder how they keep the entertainment if one of them is blowing out the other?
