Anyone been to North Myrtle Beach for a summer vacation. Obviously there is golf and an ocean/beach. Wondering about any ins and outs especially if anyone fishing the sea or inshore.

I spent many long weekends in the Army in the Myrtle Beach area as it was a short drive from Fort Bragg. My barracks roommate was actually born and raised in Myrtle, and a semi pro at golf.

Anyways North Myrtle has a lot of resort condos and hotels but it technically isn't Myrtle Beach. It's more Naperville to Chicago but closer. It doesnt have the top flight golf courses but its still got great beaches and seafood (I learned the difference the hard way bc I was the guy responsible for booking a Myrtle Condo for fourth of July. North Myrtle was cheaper but I got an earful from my room mate)

Anyways very nice area. Fished offshore twice. If you gwt a good guide you'll have fun. S Carolina is affordable. There is also a casino cruise.

The town has a decent collection of bars and restaurants in the city center which isnt far from the beach. There is also a huge flea market nearby.

I've been there a few times. It is very laid back, I prefer it to Myrtle Beach. You don't have to go far to hit real rednecks either. Go to a restaurant called Captain Poo's, get the scallops.

The Gulf Stream is pretty far offshore, maybe 80 miles. That's a long way to go to fish. It's pretty amazing though, near shore the water is 50-60 degrees and 80 miles out it's 78 degrees.
