This sport is basically a dumbed down version of football for people with slow brains and a shallow capacity for strategic thought, but hey even Almost Football is still pretty fucking cool! And for FF it'll be nice to have a game that's a lot easier for him to understand.

Either way the All Blacks are once again favoured to rip through the competition but astute observers will note that the Welsh and Saffa sides have really caught up. I was there to see RSA draw the AB's in Wellington...the rest of the world no longer feels the intimidation factor. Even the Wallabies got them (thought it was in Perth).

USA is in it too. Were not as good at union as sevens but were an ascending power and with the arrival of SupeRugby to American shores seemingly imminent the World Cup would be a great opportunity to get acquainted with this decent replacement for NFL action when the off-season is going (SupeRugby runs Feb-July).

Full roster rugby sucks. Just a bunch of dudes piling on each other all day.

Rugby 7v7 on the other hand is IMO the most exciting sport to watch in the world. Absolutely fell in love with it during the Rio Olympics.

I think you feel this way because we are very good at it.

Lost 45-7. Not gonna make it out of groups.

It's touch football.

You don't really like rugby if you prefer sevens

Everyone is rooting for Japan to make it past Ireland or Scotland in Pool A.

The USA has a long way to go to reach third rate status in this thing. The All Blacks are just on a different level but there's increasingly more sides who are at least capable of pulling a fast one on NZ. USA isn't even on that level, but we'll see how Tonga, Canada and Namibia go. Another four years and I'd hope we can escape pools.

Sounds like the host team is trying to cheat its way out of the pool and into the quarter-finals:

Quote:
Scotland Rugby are furious at the risk of their Rugby World Cup showdown against Japan Rugby being cancelled due to Super Typhoon Hagibis.

World Rugby confirmed on Thursday that both England vs France and New Zealand vs Italy have been called off, with the worst typhoon in 60 years due to hit Japan this weekend.

Scotland’s must-win clash with Japan, which is scheduled to be the final pool game of the World Cup on Sunday, is also at risk, with Rugby World Cup tournament director Alan Gilpin confirming that if it is not safe to hold the match in Yokohama on Sunday, the game will be cancelled and each team will be awarded two points in a scoreless draw that would send Scotland out of the competition.

The Scotland camp are understood to be furious with the prospect of World Rugby not making plans to relocate the game or delay it to a Monday kick-off, and have called on the governing body to change their approach in order to make sure the match goes ahead as planned.

The All Blacks did this too and it's basically THE biggest story in NZ. It technically eliminated Italy but in reality everyone knows the AB's vs. Italy is a walkover. The Saffas are the ones who really escaped.

The fact that the "logistics" are too great to just play this match without having a crowd is ridiculous and Scotland should be livid.

that'd be something, ask a bunch of roided up Scots their thoughts on a fiercely independent people being forced to live under the yoke of a bully neighbor run by a cartoon character.
