Flipping between NFL playoffs and the Tournament of Champions. Good leaderboard and Kapalua is a great course to watch them play. Although I notice they call it "The Plantation Course" much less these days.

Why did they start the 2020 season in September of 19?

They call it a "wrap around season".

What a weird end. It seemed like nobody wanted to win that thing on 18 yesterday. It's almost always fun watching primetime golf though. We get more of that next week as they stay in Hawaii for the Sony Open.

Damn. I used to like Reed a lot. I've done almost a complete 180 on him now.

Quote:
Peter Kostis, a former golf commentator on CBS, said on the “No Laying Up” podcast this week that he has seen Reed improve either his lie or line of play during competition multiple times in person while working a Tour event.

Due to an “unwritten rule,” however, Kostis wasn’t allowed to call Reed out for any rules infractions on the air, unless a penalty was assessed.

“But we could comment if a penalty was called,” Kostis said on the podcast, via ESPN. “That's the difference between reporting on a story and being a part of a story, right? I've seen Patrick Reed improve his lie up close and personal four times now ... You can go on YouTube. It's the only time I've ever shut [commentator Gary] McCord up, he didn't know what to say when I said, ‘The lie that I saw originally wouldn't have allowed for this shot.’

“Because [Reed] put four, five clubs behind the ball, kind of faking whether he's going to hit this shot or that shot — and by the time he hit a freaking 3-wood out of there. Which, when I saw it, it was a sand wedge layup originally, right?”

“I saw him, I was in the tower at 16 at [Torrey Pines] on the par-3 during a Golf Channel telecast and he hit over the green, and he did the same thing,” Kostis said on the podcast, via ESPN. “Put three or four clubs behind ... and it was really a treacherous shot; nobody had gotten it close all day long from over there. And by the time he was done, I could read 'Callaway' on the golf ball from the tower.

“But I can't say anything. I can't be the story, right? Now I'm done, I don't really care. There was another incident at Hartford and another incident at San Diego. I was there, and I saw them all ... I'm not even sure he knows that he's doing it, sometimes. Maybe he does, I don't know. I'm not going to assign intent.”

COZTANSA'S PREDICTIONS FOR THE 2020 PGA TOUR that nobody will care about!

-Rory, Jordan, or Phil. At least one of them gets their career Grand Slam this season
-Xander Schaffule wins a major
-Patrick Reed fails to qualify for the Ryder Cup and does not get selected to the team as a Captain's Pick
-Bubba Watson wins two tournaments
-The US wins the Ryder Cup in a thrilling fashion 14.5-13.5 as Webb Simpon wins the 18th hole of the anchor match to seal it

The stuff Kostis said bothered me, but I still like him for this reason.

The "stuff" as in Reed is blatantly skirting the rules? If it haopens once, its a mistake. When it happens again and again, its a trend.

I didn't say otherwise. Feel free to dislike him.

I like Tommy Fleetwood, but he just can't get out of his own way on Sundays. Great chance to at least get into a playoff yesterday, and he dunks it into the water on 18.

Pressure to win on Tour, man. Im chunked a 90 yard wedge into the bunker on 18 that almost cost him.

Im sure did. But he was also in the lead and made a great recovery up and down. And he is just 21 years old.

Fleetwood is 29, has won on the Euro tour, has been in the top ten and contended in Majors, and played in a Ryder Cup. He's had more chances under pressure than Im, and continues to come up short.

I’m sure Fleetwood will turn it around just in time for the Ryder Cup

Local course opening this Thursday. I’ll be playing at least one if not both days this weekend.

He's gonna play like 6 more times this year. Maybe not even that many times. I hope Stricker is smart enough not to pick him as anything but a Vice Captain for the Ryder Cup.

Probably saving it all up for Augusta .

I thought Hatton was going to melt down yesterday but kudos to him for hanging in there down the stretch. Looking forward to the Players. Not sure what to think about Tiger. Hopefully he will play before the Nastwrs but who knows.

BR is probably correct. Tiger is going to give it everything he has for Augusta. Smart on his part as that is likely the best chance the has at winning more majors. I doubt he will ever seriously contend for a British or US Open again.

Tough scoring conditions all week. Tbone, you are correct in that I expected Hatton to kinda fall apart as well. What I did not expect at all was the Rory meltdown. It doesn't necessarily surprise me that he didn't win, but his Sunday score was shockingly poor.

Crazy finish on the Euro Tour at the Qatar Masters. I was up early with my son watching it. Five hole playoff, and both guys birdied the first two playoff holes. Probably about 40' worth of putts drained by Campillo, while Drysdale had two shorties. It was pretty entertaining to watch.

At this point in time, PGA TOUR events – across all Tours – will currently proceed as scheduled, but will do so without fans. This policy starts at THE PLAYERS Championship tomorrow (Friday) and continues through the Valero Texas Open. It’s important to note, that could change, but for the time being, this decision allows the PGA TOUR, our fans and constituents to plan, prepare and respond as events develop.

I understand the move but of all sports this one seemed relatively safe to try to play with no spectators. Being the only show in town would have been a big score for them.

I think its about the logistics of traveling and being exposed to people that way as opposed to the viability of playing without fans.
