Whats the deal you got to pay extra for doors or something?
That thing is literally the ugliest vehicle I've seen.

Plastic looking piece of shit. If you want an off-roader import a twenty-five year rule Land Cruiser or Defender.

No proper work or outdoors vehicle should have an 8" display mounted in the center of the dash. At least they are giving it a real transmission, though.

ya, the display ruins the utilitarian aspect. but 95% of these are going to the mall and back so it makes sense to include in a twisted way

The best off-roader ever is still in production and unchanged for the last thirty-five years. You just cant have it in America, mainly because companies like Ford want to sell you on the dream of this piece of shit Bronco.

That's how comprehensively the American manufacturers have failed to make a decent car. Australians and Africans still need to buy a Toyota designed in the eighties if they want a decent factory fresh car that can perform.

Those and Jeep Scramblers were all over the place in Montana for 500 bucks back in the late 90’s.

As far as the bronco.. as said above, glad they didn’t go the blazer route.

The off-roader craze is something we really should have seen coming. The amount of Defenders for sale in Johannesburg for less than $5k USD is shocking, I keep thinking these cars would go for seven or eight times that in the USA. Just not quite twenty-five years yet. Its an opportunity for somebody enterprising or who has an in with a shipping company.

Original launch date was July 9th but took too much flak after finding out it was OJ Simpson’s birthday

As someone who is off road a bit just by occupation the American manufacturers have pretty much taken most of the off road ability off of the traditional off road vehicles. Lowered them to the ground, smoothed out suspension and put all season road tires in everything as standard to get the suburban mom customer and the weekend warrior who needs a pickup truck to... I’m not sure. Even out here I walk on the lot to look at trucks and they are all set up for people to pull boats or horse trailers on the road. Drive a modern large suv off the road and you will rip off the air damn on the fron that they installed to eek out one more .5 mpg.

Much more squat than a Jeep, those things are the worst. I dig the look, but I doubt I'd ever buy such a vehicle.

So the 2021 4runner TRD pro is $50,000. Which is probably still a hair over what the Bronco will run you if you get it with four doors, the V6 and the off-road package to make it roughly equivalent with the Toyota. And lets be frank the 4runner ancient five speed automatic is pitiful compared to the ten speed on the Bronco (the manual is only available with the 2.3L four cyl on the Bronco) and the 4runner's V6 is massively de-tuned.

Now in fairness that's kind of Toyota's deal and there's no doubt a 2021 4runner will be running well into the 2050's while these Broncos will all be on the scrap pile, all due to Toyota's unwillingness to indulge in fancy and complicated drive trains.

Either way, its a win for the Bronco in the American market. The J70 is still obviously the choice anywhere outside North America, unless you can find dirt cheap Land Rovers in Africa.

My oldest son just bought a 2020 Blazer- compared to a Grand Cherokee it rode nicer and was better equipped than the one I test rode with him. The tires are 21 inches, but I doubt he will ever need much off-road ground clearance. It works for what he needs, I guess.

While at the dealership, I looked at a GMC Denali on the floor- MSRP $78,800. I told a geezer salesman that I had bought two houses for less money than that in my lifetime, and he pointed out to the lot and said it wasn't even in the ten highest-priced vehicles they had for sale. I have lost touch with reality pretty quickly, it seems. I guess I'll go yell at a cloud now.

I was at a dealer, precovid, getting some recall work done and the salesman was asking if I was in the market for something newer. I kind of was and he pointed to a 6 figure car... I laughed and said not that market. It’s ridiculous. Still need to replace that vehicle mind you, don’t think the Bronco is in the running.

Spending a hundred grand on a car that isn't in some way historically significant is the height of lunacy to me. You might as well buy a plane and learn how to fly it if you're gonna toss around that kinda scratch.
