Anyone have one of these or have been around one? The most popular brands seem to be Solo Breeo. We have a very basic fire pit circle made out of stone in the back which works well enough but you can't help but smelling like you just fought a forest fire by the end of the day when we use it. We were considering turning it into an actual fireplace with a chimney instead but these seem like they would be a good option. Some of the reviews seem to indicate that they may not give off a lot of heat which is kind of the point of a fire pit.

How about a brimless rain hat?

We have a Solo and we like it. Puts off enough heat for us.

A few of our friends have one and I didn't think it gave off a lot of heat. They are really cool looking but someone made the comment that we probably all looked like a bunch of hobos standing around a garbage can.

Several of our friends have Solos and I can say I consistently dislike them all.

You’ll love them.

Both and both, in that order.

Just get a pile of old pallets, a few empty seed corn bags and bucket of used motor oil mixed with dirty diesel fuel so you'll know how bad it can be and then a normal fire pit will seem delightful.

Maybe a tractor tire?

That's the grand finale.. Blows giant black smoke rings... Or so I'm told.

Its amazing how many tires end up at the bottom of brush piles that get burned.. Its almost like that is their natural habitat or something.

Back when a young Dr. Ken used to sell tires, a couple times a Summer we’d have to load the semi trailer to the metal ceiling with the old used tires that were covered in that slimy fire retardant.

It was 1,000 degrees in there and, if your back hit the ceiling, it would fry your back like a skillet.

And we’d be caked in that fire stuff for about 3 hours plus until you got home and showered. I’m sure that didn’t give me cancer or some other illness.

So the early consensus seems to be to avoid these, and instead go to a junkyard, get 3 or 4 old tires with fire retardant, stack them up, and light the fire in the middle.

Don't forget to get a cancer test afterwards.

Seriously Rick I wouldn’t do the fake one. Just not my thing but I get the smell thing for sure. So if your kids are smaller or your timing is such that fires are a spontaneous and short lived experience maybe it’s for you. This is especially true of you are hoping to do some late after weekend fire thing then running to an event.

Us, we almost alway have our real fire pit go in the evening when nothing else is happening. We don’t care about smell and clothes go to the hamper and if you’re a clean freak shower before, well you know. 8)

Neighbor has one. If you use it in the 60s it is probably fine but if you do fires when the temp is in the 40s then you likely will have to overfill it to get enough heat. Then the 'smokeless' feature is defeated.

Personally I like my regular fire pit. I don't mind smelling like smoke. That is what showers and washing machines are for
