I know some of you guys will have some interest in this and will try to watch. Always a little tougher to
follow when it is played overseas. I think TV coverage starts at around 2am on Golf Channel. I'll likely
watch a little bit each day. The U.S. is going in as a pretty big underdog and I am just not sure they have
the talent to take the Europeans out on their own turf. Play starts Friday.

I was watching some of the golf channel last night and pretty cool story involving MJ and Poulter.

Saw that too Hawg, it was pretty cool. Still don't know how the US lost in 2012. That was brutal.

The only hope they have is that the smelly Euro's don't hit fairways off of the tee. I believe the US has the better short game overall, but if Rory and the lot are hitting their second shots from the fairway it could get ugly. Match play ends up being such a different animal though. Given the time difference and how busy I am this weekend I probably won't get to watch a whole bunch. Will probably DVR Sunday and watch it in the late afternoon/evening.

Nicklaus redesigned this course, they say it is probably the most Americanized golf course over there.

If the matches are close, it will be a early Sunday rise for me. Hopefully it works out where we can watch this and go right into the Bear/Packer game, now that would be a Sunday.

Friday's Ryder Cup pairings have been announced, with U.S. captain Tom Watson and Europe captain Paul McGinley making their choices for the fourball (known as better ball) and foursomes (alternate shot) matches.

The four morning matches at Gleneagles Resort in Gleneagles, Scotland between Team USA and Europe will be played as fourball, with the afternoon matches being contested as foursomes. U.S. captain Tom Watson and European captain Paul McGinley selected two-player teams to pair together for these matches, with each pairing earning one point for winning a match. Teams earn a ½ point for ties after 18 holes. Friday's format is repeated on Saturday, though both captains reserve the right to make pairings tweaks for the following day.

Each captain submitted the order in which his pairings/players will play without knowing how the opponent ordered his lineup. Team Europe retains the Cup by earning 14 points (of a possible 28). Team USA needs to earn 14½ points to win the Cup.

You can watch Friday's action on the Golf Channel (2:30 a.m. ET - 1 p.m. ET).

Friday Fourball pairings (All times Eastern)

2:35 a.m.: Webb Simpson and Bubba Watson vs. Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson

2:50 a.m.: Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker vs. Thomas Bjorn and Martin Kaymer

3:05 a.m.: Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed vs. Stephen Gallacher and Ian Poulter

3:20 a.m.: Keegan Bradley and Phil Mickelson vs. Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy

Poulter is an old 38. If you told me he was 48, I would believe it.

If Keegan and Phil even make it to the 11th tee box I'll be shocked.

Rory and Sergio 10 and 8.

The match I am looking forward to the most is the two rookies taking on Poulter and the guy who grew up on the course.

Forgot this was on this morning. Looks to be tied 1-1/2 each right now with Sergio and Rory up one going to 16.

I woke up at 4:30 this morning to watch a little of this before work, it does not look like I will get much sleep this weekend. Really good 1st session for the Americans, especially winning 2 matches on the 18th hole. Normally the Euros do that to us.

Phil & Keegan are the best pairing the USA has had in many years. They play really well together. I'm not surprised by the result.

No, but I have seen the Americans shit themselves plenty of times in this format.

Keep it within a point or point and a half is all the US has to do today. Remember Hawg, it looked bleak early this AM and the US team turned it on late on the back 9.

If it holds the way it stands now, Europe is only up 1 point. That can be overcome tomorrow.
