No, that was Patti Haze. Sky Daniels was the stoner who made an odd smacking sound all the time.

It's funny you say that. My business partner is a thirty year old guy from Glenview. Just the other day I asked him if all of his friends automatically got cars as soon as they got their licenses. His answer was yes.

It certainly wasn't that way for my friends and me. My best friend in high school was a guy named Fred. He had an early birthday plus he had flunked a grade, so he was nearly two years older than everyone else in our class. He got his license when we were freshmen. His older brother Baki was a senior at the time. Sometimes he would let Fred use his car. I looked like I was about eight years old riding shotgun. Every upperclassman at ETHS absolutely hated us. But we had a car and they were walking. Fuck them.

I worked from the time I was twelve or thirteen saving every penny to buy a car. I started out selling flowers on the corner of Dempster and Dodge and then I caddied and got a job at an Italian restaurant. I bought my first car at McKay Datsun on Chicago Avenue. I think I paid $3,900 for my '76 Toyota Celica in the spring of 1980. It was more than a car. It represented freedom. Oddly enough, about six or seven years ago I was working downtown and almost never drove anywhere. I remember standing on the platform at Fullerton one beautiful spring day and thinking how free I was because I didn't need a car.

I started working as a caddie at about the same age. I saved every dollar except for a gyros, fries and boston shake at Nicks (Devon and Pulaski) every Monday after golfing for free. I used that money and everything I received in a car accident settlement to help pay for school. I didn't have my first car until I was finished with all my schooling which was well into my 20s.

I was at Evanston Golf Club where Jewish kids carried trunks for Catholic bigshots. I guess you were at Edgebrook where Catholic kids looped for Jewish machers. Was my guy Chris Otis a pro when you were there?

Were you hurt in the accident?

Did you guys keep the caddying job year after year? I always thought that would have been a fun job, you probably have good stories.

Bryn Mawr. There is no Edgebrook CC. I tried not to get to know the pros as they looked like the kind of people who would kidnap you at the end of the season when the returned to Florida to beg.

I remember Hippie Herb the Herb, Howie, Devoe and some weird mexican guy who used a shoelace as a bandana

I used to read the Tribune sports page almost every day, and that is where I learned of the plans for an all sports radio station. I was 15 when The Score began, and I have been a listener since day one. I used to listen to WBBM at :15 and :45 past the hour for a sports fix.

She was Colmes to his Hannity. An ignorant, loud talking conservative asshat, and a seemingly more intelligent, but easily pushed around, liberal pussy.

Concussion but nothing structural. Don't you worry, all my parts work fine.

Caddying sucked. The actual job was fine. However, there was a lot of down time with no pay. There were so many caddies that if you didn't get there at 6 am there is a good chance you would not get out for the day. Even if you did you might wait until noon. If you average the money over all the hours you were there, the pay wasn't good. Bryn Mawr had a no tipping policy for caddies. The cheap fucks were always getting the bad caddie so they made a rule of no tipping. Imagine the mindset of these people. They were all millionaires who would give a guy a dollar to go bring their car 100 feet from its space but wouldn't give a dime to a kid lugging their bag around in the sun for four hours.

There were fun stories. One member was an owner of the Sox. We'd have a Sox outing every year where everyone would get wasted.

I got my revenge on them. My first job used to rent out the club every year for golfing. The same guys who I worked with and for were now my peers or worked for me.

Yeah that would suck dolphin. My caddying experience was a lot better.

Very rare someone didnt get out all day and if you got there by the time we did the Badge pull (spelled bage by the caddymaster) at 630am you were sure to be out by 9

Tons of awesome stories.

I saw Ozzie Guillen hit the worst golf shot in history

Caddied for Jay Levine (Huge Jack Ass, thinks he's Bill Kurtis)

Tons of hilarious hooliganism by millionaires with enough money to tray anything.

I'm sure different clubs have different characters. Bryn Mawr was very expensive, even among CC, to join. That resulted in the membership being older. There were definitely no younger, cool members. I do think there were socio-economic issues as well as they saw the caddies as the poor goyim from the neighborhood.

Yeah Midlothian, while having the hardest greens in Illinois, was not the richest club.

I cant imagine no tips though

Even the biggest jagoff, Mr Finger, would give you 5 dollars. (Making it a clean 15$ for 4 hours)

but you only got him if you were really new

Average in 1993 was like 30-40 $ a round counting the flat rate of 10-14$

I don't think Harvey was running the station when Anne was hired although I'm sure his relationship with Mike played a role. As I recall, Mike said they had a lively discussion on politics during a party...sparking the idea that she could be Colmes to his Hannity.

Edit: Sorry for stealing your line Chus...I must have subliminally spotted it.

Bryn Mawr. You would think I would know the name of the thing living across the street until I was nine years old. It was heartbreaking knowing that as a Catholic boy I could never be a member.

Haha. My dad's family is from Northbrook; his sister ran a Mustang through the back wall of the garage. Wrecking the car your parents got you: North Shore rite of passage.
