Everyone's talking about the Cubs spending a year at the Cell:

The news broke on Channel 5 - And Hyde Park Larry, who lives 5 minutes from the Cell, had absolutely nothing to do with the story. Great job genius!

Then again, how can I fault him? How could he have time to work a source when he was busy interviewing BMac and Shep about getting co-ed softball revenge against B96?

Responding to your own thread? How positively Pantheresque

Enough of the anti Larry hate. It's beginning to become cult like.

I'm not a fan of his show and PTFB when he is on. However, I don't feel the need to constantly poke fun at him every chance I get.
He does a decent job on NBC and I'm happy for him. How "tragic" that people on a message board feel the need to bash radio personalities (that many have never met) to make themselves feel good.

Truth be told, I don't mind Laurence Holmes as much as others do. When he's on The SCORE at night as a solo host, he's tolerable. I'd rather listen to LoHo than Jonathan Hood up the dial on ESPN Radio when there's no Bulls' game that night, that's for sure.

There are things I could live without on the Holmes' nighttime show, and one of them appears to be history. He used to do a nightly hit with CBS2's Ryan Baker, complete with that annoying cough remix intro. I think that's in large part because Holmes is now part of the team at NBC5, even though The SCORE is owned by CBS.

There are 2 other things I wish Holmes would get rid of. For starters, when you call in, he always asks "What's your thoughts on...?" when your turn comes on the air. That's something he did when he & Dan Hampton co-hosted middays on WSCR and he still does that now. The other thing I wish he'd get rid of is something I think he did about 2 weeks ago when he subbed on the "McNeil/Spiegel Show" and continues to do on his nighttime show. He'll always gush about a beautiful woman, such as Kerry "Where the hell is she?" Sayers when she does middays at the update desk, or his NBC5 colleague, meteorologist Cheryl Scott. There are times where I wonder if they'll going to file restraining orders against Laurence, or hit him real, real hard...

Very good points Shark. Maybe that is why I liked him on NBC and not on the radio. He is limited to the script and doesn't go off into the Larry Twilight Zone. LTZ.
