Saw this on the Naperville Sun website...Looks like WSCR's Wayne Randazzo is the new voice of the Kane County Cougars.

North Central graduate named voice of Cougars

The Kane County Cougars have announced that Wayne Randazzo has accepted the position of Cougars broadcaster. Randazzo, who begins with the Cougars in early March, will be behind the microphone beginning on April 5 as the 2012 season of Cougars baseball opens.

Randazzo is a graduate of St. Charles East High School and North Central College, and spent the past four seasons in Mobile with the BayBears, Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Randazzo’s broadcasting background also includes his current work with Chicago’s Sports Radio 670 The Score, as well as the Big Ten Network.

Randazzo replaces the vacancy left by Jeff Hem, who accepted a broadcasting position with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds, a Milwaukee Brewers affiliate, in December.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the Kane County Cougars organization,” said Randazzo. “Having grown up in the area, I know how much the Cougars mean to the community, and I’m so thrilled to be a part of that. I hope all of our great listeners enjoy what they hear this season.”

The Cougars are the Class-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and more than 100 former Cougars have reached the Major Leagues.

I wonder what something like that pays. Don't these guys usually have a dual position in the front office. That would probably be a lot of fun for a younger guy looking to make his way in the industry.

It doesn't pay that much and it is also dependent on the affiliate and not the organization that is supplying the team to the affiliate. I would say around 35-55 per year. A good low A affiliate with a large fan base will pay more than a shitty AA job. They are generally involved in off season ticket/advertising sales as the 2nd part of their job. Sometimes they are also the travel secretary for the team.

George: Hey Buck, how's it going?
Buck Showalter: Good George, except for a problem with Tartabull's swing.

Congratulations to Wayne Randazzo on his upcoming gig with the Kane County Cougars. A certain former White Sox pre & postgame host who should be back here with his hometown team instead of the Tampa Bay Rays also worked for the Cougars at one time.

Memo to SCORE Program Director Mitch Rosen, Sports Director Brendan McCaffrey & White Sox V.P. of Marketing & Broadcasting Brooks Boyer:

GET RID OF ED FARMER! SPEND THE $$$$ & BRING BACK DAVE WILLS!
