I heard the same things. When the second caller thought that Peyton Manning would be better off in SF over Denver, Houston or Tennessee, Joe's response was, "The 49ers don't have any receivers." Perhaps, that might be true if you only look at the receivers (Braylon Edwards and Ted Ginn Jr. did little last season), however their top receiver and several others who can catch the ball aren't too bad:
Michael Crabtree-16th in the NFL in receptions by a receiver/25th overall (all players-wr, rb, te) Vernon Davis-8th in the NFL in receptions by a tight end/31st overall Frank Gore-one of the top RB in the game. Althought he only had 13 receptions last year, his previous 3 seasons had no lower than 40. Mario Manningham-newly signed. Not a bad receiver.
Sure, they won't make you forget the 49ers of Rice/Taylor/Jones and Craig, but this group isn't as bad as Joe led on. I think Manning would help make Edwards and Ginn perform better.
