I think Hub's the best reserve host on the score. He's knowledgeable, gets good guests, and it doesn't sound like he's "trying out" for more air time, like most of the reserves do. I wish they'd stop using the producers as fill ins as they provide a lot of bad radio when given the chance.

Nah... Too old school. I like either of the main BnB producers before anyone.

Exactly. Though I'm not listening at the moment, I've always liked Hub.

He's no Oak Park Vandy but other than that I agree.

Absolutely, and also the best solo host too.

Hub is Mr. Plain Vanilla in a safety cone with extra napkins and a spoon!!!!. Even when he shows the minimum level of passion he apologizes for it. "Oh, I am sorry if I sounded a little excited"

Then god damn fucking giggles on every report......"Teee heeee teee heee"

Even the guys at the Score think it is creepy.

That's not true, you wanna hear "Mr. Plain Vanilla in a safety cone with extra napkins and a spoon"? He is one of the update guys who usually sits in with Rosenbloom on Saturday mornings, he always sounds the same and while his name changes, he is always the same guy...

Hub is much much better than that guy, he has thoughts, has a distinctive voice, and can communicate clearly... Hub is the goods

next to Steve Stone he's the master of "playing both sides" so he seemingly never comes off as wrong..but he never really offers up an opinion either

agree with bigfan too...the giggling is creepy

CC, did you, as I did, flip on the radio yesterday morning to hear Rosenbloom and Grote and not realize for quite some time that it was actually Esposito?

Mark Grote does make fun of the NIU guy, so that's funny, at least.

Indeed I did, I was listening when Rosenbloom talked about some of the NBA owners being NHL owners and them having that experience could cause the lockout to last longer, and then Esposito said something along the lines of "There have been a lot of lockouts this year"

to which I then turned off my radio...

I think the fact that Hub has entire threads here dedicated to his thoughts proves that he does have opinions...

I also think that the fact that such a thread does exist proves that those opinions are not always the best

Hub is MUCH better now that is free from being a Bears employee. No longer can one attribute the moniker Hub Asskiss to him. However, he is still very bland and one-dimensional. I get that the guy is some kind of football insider but why give him his own show? Where is his breadth of knowledge on the NBA, baseball, or hockey? And he always gets solo shows. He is not quite the level of gun-in-your-mouth radio as a Kaplan or Waddle but I think pairing him with someone in these fill-in spots would make his smarm more easily digested.

Even though he's the editor/publisher of Pro Football Weekly and is technically 670 The SCORE's Senior Bears/NFL analyst, Hub Arkush hasn't been afraid to discuss other sports whenever he gets an airshift on the CBS Radio-owned sports talker. In fact, whenever Hub is on the schedule, regardless if he's solo or if he's paired with veteran AP sportswriter Jim Litke for instance, guests are not far behind.

That'll be the plan come Friday night when Hub once again pinch hits for Laurence on the evening show from 6-10p.

I'm not a big fan of Hub's opinions. He makes pronouncements about players and teams way too defintively and too much based in raw stats, usually from the combine. I don't think he sees the big picture.

And he's a rerun of himself. I PREDICT... that in week 10 he'll look at the standings, notice all the teams between at 4-6, 5-5, and 6-4, and go into his standard routine about parity. Why a bunch of teams playing between .400 and .600 surprises him every year, or strikes him as a bad thing, I have no idea.

Anyway, he can handle a show solo and that's not easy. He does talk pretty much pure sports, and he treats callers fairly well.

I think the producers are there because they are already on the payroll and being allowed to audition. They do have some rough-listening shows, and can be unlistenable when trying to go solo.

i will listen to goff or abattacola or finfer when they fill in, all do a fine job...but rosenbloom is the best of the bunch who needs a full time show.

You'll get a double dose of Hub the next 2 nights. With Laurence Holmes subbing for budding rocker Matt Spiegel on the what should be called "The McNeil and/or Spiegel Show" today on 670 The SCORE & 670thescore.com and will be part of executive producer/host/update anchor Joe Ostrowski's wedding tomorrow, Hub Arkush sits in at 7p tonight following "Bears All-Access" & at 6p tomorrow night. Guests won't be far behind.

Hub just said Luol Deng is an elite NBA player. I'm done with sports radio until January 2nd.

Last night me and my roomate got drunk and ended up watching Learning to Fly the video they did for the first Bulls championship and the one thing that stood out for me while watching it is the drop off in quality from Pippen to Deng. I know this isn't a fair comparison to Deng because he is a decent pro but watching Scottie just abuse Magic and throw the ball down on the break just made me realize that Deng couldn't hold his jockstrap. Not exactly breaking news I know but yeah.
