I have no insider information on this. Both Murph and North have detailed that back in Murph's WLS days he put North on the air for a weekly handicapping segment. I believe that led to North getting a regluar show either on WLS or another station, which led to his being able to audition for WSCR.

I thought the other part of the story was that the 'XRT guys (Danny Lee?) used to come into the hot dog stand and encourage him to do his own thing. So, North bought time every week on some station and "refined his craft". Then, when Lee started WSCR, he thought of North or North bugged Lee to give him a shot.

BARRET just fucked up and missed a throw by jones at the plate.
I wonder if Murph will geto n Jones case about the throw. ya it hopped about 4 times, but he got it there before the runner and all the catcher had to do was catch the ball and tag the runner. Barret messed up, but let's see if Murph uses jones as a scapegoat tomorrow.

Vidro should have been out by at least ten feet. Jones throw was not good, only accurate. Jones blows.

I am not defending Murph, but that is like the 5th time in the last week Jones has taken a 3rd strike. I would be pissed too.

No doubt that Jones is part of the failure that is the Cubs, but Murphy likes to scapegoat one person for the entire team...usually the manager, this time it appers that J.Jones is that guy.
