The fact that this poor man must sit on the radio in the third biggest sports market in the country and talk about his 2-13 record in the Big East is torture for the coach, hosts, and listeners alike. Even Bruce Weber is like "Damn, it sucks to be him".

I think it's time to turn this into a podcast.

He's the guy that has to pretend that Depaul has a chance to be good before he's fired and gets a job he can win at.

I guess you didnt see them Tie Louisville thru 2 Halves last game.

That show sucks if DePaul is #1 in the nation. Team specific shows suck.

Too much caffeine?

Nope, weed soaked in apple juice.

Purnell might be the only coach in history with a bonus clause to get to .500

I think he pumps the iced tea so he doesn't miss a word of Sir Larry and then fires up a fattie so he can get to sleep when Les comes on.

And he might be the only coach who deserves it.

Well they suck less now. Have been more competitive this year. He's got that going for him.

He would deserve it if Depaul had a plan that once they get to .500, what is next?

Worst thing about DePaul is where they are and what they can offer. They offer NOTHING to a kid coming from the Southside, Florida, Kansas, etc.

I understand when Southern Illinois sucks...but Depaul should have had a few good years

#fasttrack

It's really not that hard to turn a team from one of the worst in the country to not one of the worst in the country. They are still one of the worst in the 3rd best conference in the country.

They still can be the worst team in the big east on any given day, just not the worst alone now.

He's got guts coming on 670 The SCORE every week as the losses continue to mount for his DePaul team. No one said rebuilding the once proud DePaul men's basketball program was going to be easy. Even Oliver Purnell is starting to realize that. I'm not sure that the school administration will be that patient in regards to recruiting and turning all those Big East losses into wins. There are probably 2 or 3 games that DePaul had a chance to pull out wins, only to let them slip through their fingers. They've got a winnable game tomorrow vs. Providence at Allstate Arena. It may be just 2 wins right now in conference play, but it's a start.

This kind of ties back in to the United Center will be Chicago's only indoor venue. If DePaul were able to build a mid-sized arena with 10-14K seating capacity, they could then foster a better campus environment, host non-athletic events, and it would draw given the close proximity to L lines.

Planning & development in Chicago is both ass-backwards and stunted due to bs covenants and bs politics. Sadly, the media is complicit in maintaining this status quo so that even grass roots efforts are simply ignored.

I agree P&D is a shitty effort. If the City really wants something, they just tell everyone they dont know shit and give the property to the developers.

See the "L" and Irving Park 7-8 story buildings. The Neighborhood fought this all day. Almost everyone signed the petition to fight this. Mayor daley and his PD Group wanted high density next to the train lines so they allowed the zoning change.

I would tell you that it cost Schulter his job, as he fought with the community over this.

Meanwhile, I was trying to get a zoning change on something that had nothing to do with it, usually something that was a no brainer. Wanted a 2 unit building, rezoned so I could add 12 feet on the back. Was a no brainer, but because of this Schulter gave a NO ZONING MEETINGS FOR CHANGES Policy. Why? because people are pissed at him.

The point being, a neighborhood group will almost (99% of the time) have opposing views to anything and the only way you get something done is "connections"

This would be an example of what would go down in Lincoln Park. These people would fight and sue to stop anything. DePaul missed the chance to build "On Campus".

Where the unreal terrible planning was, is that they would have bought land at Armitage and the Expressway 5-7 years ago, done a partnership with any number of people and had a great facility. Nope. Nothing. They liked the Allstate Deal of "You play for free and the city of Rosement takes the concessions and parking"

And here we are, present day Oliver P. year 2 and Depaul's high point is some competitive games! Still last in the Big East.

If only there was a passionate radio voice that would rip these guys a new asshole! Maybe an alumni! Maybe someone...oh wait...tough guy gets a check from them!

This has gotten even more depressing. It's basically just DePaul fans calling in questioning coaching decisions or asking why a player sucks.

DePaul should bring back that sad sack looking dude. At least he cracked jokes. I just saw the other ex-coach,Dave Levito (?-forgot his name) on the bench as an assistant somewhere.

Well, they got what they wanted with Pawar, who quickly tried to sneak a huge low income project onto the Illinois Battery site.

Laurence mentioned on the nighttime SCORE last night that Dave Leitao (that is his correct spelling) is now an assistant at Missouri.

Different era...with AAU ball, players now travel across the country and it's not a big deal to leave home. It used to be a big deal to go somewhere else.

He gave some pretty good explanations of his rationale for play calling. I didn't watch the actual game so I don't know if it made sense.

As for players, he was playing politician and basically ignoring saying anything. At best, he'd say that the player is working on improving certain parts of his game.
