I've always wanted to like Mac. We grew up in the same area and he could be a very entertaining listen. Unfortunately the guy has always seemed to be trying to get away from something. He had a golden ticket at the Score and found success so unbearable that he ran to a Disney station. Even though that was going well it wasn't exactly a shock that the happiest place on radio wasn't going to sit well with ole Danny long term, was it? After nuking that bridge he paraded his ass back to the Score like Caesar returning from Gaul when he should have been begging for a job. But boy, ruling the roost on middays just wasn't enough either. I mean who could blame him, having to actually come to "work" once every other day or so can be a real drag or, in his case, a toke. Then, after he had his "issues" management provided support and welcomed him back for a third time. Their reward was the Magnificent Danny Mac leaving the Score yet again when they couldn't provide a paycheck worthy of him rolling out of bed for.

Like I said, I've always wanted to like Mac but, after all these years, I just don't. I hope he gets his shit together for himself and for his family's sake if for nothing else, but if I never hear his voice on the radio again it will be just fine with me. He had it good at the Score but wanted something else. Now he has it, or believes he does. He's at the "crowned jewel of Chicago radio" doing guy talk, music and sports, something I only think he excels at in one of the three. But I have a feeling it won't take very long for him to tire of his new perch and see those jewels as glass and the crown as a constricting collar urging him to run away yet again. No matter how it goes for him I won't be following him anywhere. I've seen this tired act before and want no part of it any more.

As the saying goes, if you run into an asshole in the morning they are the asshole. But if you run into an asshole in the morning, an asshole in the afternoon and an asshole at night it's you who's the asshole. I wonder if Danny realizes that considering all the assholes he's obviously had to deal with in his career.

This was not a slap at Bigfan. Mac is no longer a sports talker. Limiting rollout to a sports talk website would not be logical.

It would be great if Dan created a new user name and came here as just a regular poster now for his sports fix. I assume we've lost him posting as Mac. He's in that same place in the sky as Favrefan, Keeping Score and Government Fromage.

If you mean 'awesome' as in "Polio is awesome", then I suppose you might be right.

No, I'm referring to the underpants gnomes.

Step 1: Collect underpants
Step 2: ???
Step 3: PROFIT

Please, he's with the monied illinoisians on multi thousand dollar toys that think they fish.

Burlington lakes system, Pell lake, etc. I may stay at the Grand Geneva, but havent fished there in years. However, it is where I started fishing as a yute.

I dont have a boat, nor do I have any mounted fish, nor do I talk shit like Bernstein, I just go and catch some perch, filet them up and give them to the chef to deep fry. he takes a bunch too..

Went Salmon fishing about 8 years ago up in Wisc. caught a bunch and brought them home to a polish deli owner who smoked them for us. I was with all polish guys I worked with.

Just because I dont stop in Lake Arlington Brook on my way, doesnt mean I dont get the hell out of here. I just like being able to walk and drink or jump in a cab and be home in minutes.

And the -1 degree shit is testing my patience!

Pell Lake is icky. It looks more like a marsh. Creepy little town, too.

when you are in the Gym and a guy is lifting too much weight that might injure him and he asks you "Hey, can you give me a spot?"

If you grew up in the region, at some point you are required to be in a gym and be offered roids for mkain the chest and traps bigger.

understand now?

A Blog / news site that is filled with actual news about the radio scene vs a message board with about 25 people who all hate everything and everybody.. I'm not sure why the location of Mac's exclusive is such a shock...

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/chicagoradioandmedia.com

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/score670.com

This board has a far lower bounce rate, which means people actually contribute here. Also, more page views per visitor and more time spent per visit.

Also, this website / forum is heavily trending upward, while chicagoradioandmedia.com is heavily trending downward.

Imagine if bigfan actually put a real effort into this place like Larz does on his website. With a proper homepage, SEO, and a concerted effort toward growth, this website and its userbase would dwarf the other website within 6 months. Dwarf it.

40,000 rank vs 87,000 rank. Maybe I took the wrong math class.

And nobody said those 25 people don't contribute all day long. It's obvious they do.

A one time visitor is nothing to brag about. Time spent on website and bounce rate are supremely more important when it comes to website growth and any ad dollars bigfan was trying to generate. Bigfan has a solid userbase here, Larz does not. Larz 'blog / news' is what gets him one time visitors that stumble upon his website from google searches. Bigfan has no homepage, no SEO, no blog content.

If Larz wants to trumpet his overall visitor count, good for him. But Larz' website isn't as active as this one, and doesn't have the growth potential this one does.

You know who else has a higher bounce rate than this site? SunTimes.com. Maybe all the columnists should post their stories here instead of there.

I'd like to point out that the Chicago Sun Times, and most newspapers, are not doing very well in modern times, and that monetizing newspaper websites is, so far, a failing attempt at staying relevant.

The news is free, and has been for years.

I am perplexed at how you thought Suntimes.com would support your stance.

Like I said, if you want activity for each individual post, you have about 10 posters on here who could out-do CRM on a daily basis by themselves.

I won't believe this until bigfan issues a press release. How about you?
