Since some posters were reminiscing about reading newspapers when they were younger, I thought why post old newspaper articles from Chicago newspapers and national newspapers concerning Chicago events.

Here is my first one about Comiskey Park from 1988

This isn't Jay Leno's segment on funny newspaper headlines. Keep that shit outta here.

It's insulting that you don't think that's a legitimate newspaper I read when I was young.

I may have to dox myself for this thread. Page 2, August 1975 Herald. “Tot drives car through garage”. Yeap I drove at 18 months old, through the garage and across Rte 72 in Hoffman Estates. I have the original paper.

You access newspapers from the nineteenth century. They're pretty funny--especially the small-town ones.

My parents took me to a play about this in my youth. It's a great story.

Two questions.

1. Was it a Pulte garage? :P

2. Do you drive any better now?

The ever popular White Sox, from the Chicago Eagle, June 4th, 1910. They even mention Spaulding at the bottom. Looks like this was before they moved into Comiskey, which opened later that year.

In the Moon Mullins comic strip from 1964 the person is complaining that TV programming has too much violence and bloodshed...and the zinger is that's actually the news.

From 1930, Chicago Stadium had only been opened for about two years before the Bears and Cardinals held a game there -- Bears won 9 to 7.
