Terrible news for Hawk fans that get the Athletic. He is the epitome of a fluff, fan-of-the-players writer. I don't get the Athletic just for the Hawks coverage but if I did, I would be dropping as well. As a huge fan of the Athletic, this really sucks.

Matt Rapetricia owes Yzerman a thank you. Detroit media today quickly moved on from trashing the Lions to fantasizing about Stevie Y coming back to Detroit to make the Red Wings great again. Absent Yzerman bringing Tampa's prospects and head coach with him, don't see the Wings getting back to the playoffs before the Blackhawks.

I'm sure Yzerman can be of help to the Wings, but their days of vastly outscouting the rest of the league are over, and there's no zero-income-tax magic in Michigan that would allow him to keep a loaded team together under market value even if he did get them back up to Bolts levels.

in the beginning of his time with the Sun Times, he was fine. Came off as a different style, younger, kinda funny. But then around a year in, he really started coming off as a smarmy jack ass that didn't give a shit about fan questions or opinions...even though most of his tweets are open ended as fuck and asking for responses (as these hacks are wont to do). then he threw his personal gasoline onto the Kane nonsense... a lot of "ohh..this doesn't look good for Kane/Blackhawks. Stan must do something" right out of the gate followed by a ton of "well, we don't have all of the facts, but it certainly seems like Kane was involved in something bad." - type fence sitting. didn't want to come off as not believing the victim but probably felt somehow personally hurt by what he assumed kane had done, because...Wisconsin, I guess.

he's a hack. and im glad I was able to tell him as much. FWIW, he never blocked me, though. I always thought that was cool. He would read my tweets criticizing him and he would respond. Sometimes, like Julie, trying to raise a Twitter Posse to defend him, but I respected he responded.

But, no Athletic for me.
