I remember when Les knew who I was so one night he had a trivia contest for some obscure white Sox "who was 2nd place in [whatever] in the 90s" and I called in immediately and got put on hold long enough to Google the shit so I discovered it was Craig "Little Hurt" Grebek and I won a $50 gift certificate to the then-new Bacardi at the park for opening day (while the sox were @ Texas) which covered me on like 2 beers + some little steakburger sliders plus a dessert. Fk'n nice all around if you ask me, so thanks again Les! It was an honor and a privilege to help you with the scanner at the library during the lean years (hell, who do you think told me about this place circa 03-04 so I was actually able to post on the old board and be user #6 on this board? =)

Other fun thing I remember was that they had a bunch of TVs in there showing text/Twitter scrolls from ppl using their hashtag so I got fun things up there like "James Baldwin mows my lawn" / "I cucked Jim parque" / I'm in the vents of life for Joey Belle!

Hell yeah dude! He needed help with the scanner to get those media guides out in eBay (aka "the lean years") and say what you want about the guy but he loves to talk to ya. There were at least a handful of times after the helping where I'd be outside smoking on break and run into Les heading out and we'd talk sports for at least a half hour. I used to run into him at Cubs games and my baseball uncle semi-mockingly referred to him as "my friend" cuz it's really easy to drift off into 5-10+ min convos with Les about all the happenings in sports and whatnot.

During the early-mid 2010s I loved calling in late late Sunday / early early Monday to talk about the bears games and we'd have good 5+ min up and backs. All in all I can say grobber is genuinely "that dude" in that he genuinely loves what he does for a living and often does it for free if you run into him IRL.
