Jason, for all his bravado, wishes he had the career Hub has had.

Spent countless hours leafing through Hub's Pro Football Weekly Draft Guide back in the day.

Seems as if he missed the boat and could have reinvented himself into one of the countless Draft Guys like Kiper who seem to make a comfortable living yapping away about the draft.

His biggest miss was not seeing the change from to digital content, clinging to old school concepts like print, WSCR, and RSNs while his family business declined.

The biggest tell for Hub is when he talks politics, and old hippie who still thinks it's 1970 and he's the smartest guy in the room, he is a lot like George McKaskey in that they were given a family business, George if of course protected by NFL TV money while Hub has to scramble to pay the bills.

THIS

But the greatest draft evaluator guy ever was Joel Buschbaum. No one else was even close. Did most of his own analysis and had no peer.

Read Buschbaum did it all from an apartment and send the stuff to Hub. He would have a podcast today and would have no need for the Hubster, does seem the cottage industry that has sprung up around the draft owes quite a bit to Buschbaum, they still use some of the verbiage he used back in the day.
,
The draft guide was a great way to kill time while traveling, trying to find a hidden gem guy the beloved could steal in the 6th round.

They had Joel Buchsbaum, who was the original Kiper (and a stat-obsessed shut-in who made Les Grobstein look like a fashionable man about town), but he got sick and died and presumably took most of that knowledge with him.

Edit: don't have you on ignore, Crest, just replied before I got to yours

Hub again today saying doors are being closed on him for work opportunities because of how old he is. Funny though he brings it up when saying older coaches shouldn't be hired because they're too old.

Heard that today while driving out to check in on a family member.

Hub is still giving you the same takes he has for decades, defends the McKaskey family every chance he gets, but could not help but feel sorry for Hub as he did not sound the greatest, seems that WSCR is doing him a favor by letting him appear from time to time.

It has been tough for all the lefties at WSCR, seems they actually believed all the "Trump is Hitler" BS, but sadly Hub's meatball political takes are what made me question his football takes, nothing proves you lack critical thinking and reasoning skills more than being a political meatball, makes you doubt they can form an original thought on anything.

Things haven't changed much at WSCR. Bernstein is back to giving daily horrific opinions on his social/political beliefs with Leila/Marshall in full agreeance.

I'm pretty sure I heard George McCaskey in his presser reference Hub as 'the Helen Thomas of these things' like Hub was dead

Being 70 years old AND having a heart attack will also limit your work opportunities especially if you take a year off.

Yup, he actually said he didn't think the offensive line was that bad. It was really sad to listen to him as like him or not, he was a huge part of the Bears Media for decades, the first guy that you would hear doing Bears talk on the old post game shows, and put out some excellent draft coverage back in the day.

Too bad he misjudged the upcoming digital marketplace and stubbornly held on to print media, RSN's, and AM sports talk rather than getting in early on podcasts.

A casualty of the rapid decline of legacy media. Seems he cannot afford to retire and still needs to work, hope he had a good Medicare supplement policy.

Hub gets a little confused mixing up names of players and teams. Earlier last year he said he wasn't familiar with the Rooney rule struggling with his memory at times. I think he was referring to the OL injuries but couldn't complete his thought Saturday.

Even with all that he's still better than the Scores regular trash hosts. At least he keeps his wokeness to the minimum and when it slips out on the air he catches himself.

The guys been through a lot. it's great he's doing as good as he is.
