I appreciate the Hampton wayback machine. Today he refenced what Madden called "The hardest hitting game he has ever seen"

bears 17, Raider 6 and the Bears had 9 Sacks! I knew they took out Plunkett and Wilson in that game and I thought Ray Guy had to take some snaps it got so bad the Raiders!

It was the most vicious beating I had ever seen in my life as well, but have to admit felt some sense of football smart stoday when Hampton said it and Madden stated it. Was a great game to be at , total carnage! Fans going nuts!

Might have even broken the 3rd string QB's arm and that was why Ray Guy took some snaps?

i was at the game a week earlier against the vikings. they had 11 sacks in that one. they knocked the first QB out of the game and I believe the second QB too, who I think was Archie Manning. I remember looking through my binoculars at manning on the ground. it appeared he had pissed his pants (i had awesome seats my dad got from somebody at work).

when's the last time the bears knocked a qb out of a game?

Even with all of Hampton's stuttering and digressions, I really enjoyed that story, too.

Big fan,

I was at the game and I remember the quarterback destruction. David Humm was one of the qb's the Raiders were forced to go to. I remember Ray Guy warming up and it was hilarious to watch him keep looking out onto the field everytime he threw on the sidelines. Outside of punting, he wanted no part of going in the game.

Wasn't that the game that McMahon lacerated his kidney and almost died?

Knowing McMahon's system, it would have had to be wine at that point.

That was the game. Did he really almost die, though? Or are you using "almost" in a looser sense here, like if you were contending that normal people are almost interested in Illini athletics?

By normal people, do you mean actual normal people or "normal" people like you?
