Doesn't Webby like the Smiths? I can't be mean to anyone who really likes the Smiths.

What are your five favorite Smiths songs?

Any conversation about the Smiths' best songs must begin with "There is a Light that Never Goes Out."

Yes, absolutely. That's my #1.

I'd have to think about my list, but "Pretty Girls Make Graves" and "This Charming Man" would have to be in there.

I'm thrilled that some of you enjoy the greatest band of all time as do I. Top 5 Smiths songs of all time in no particular order:

There is a Light that Never Goes Out

Please, Please Please let Me get What I Want

Girlfriend in a Coma

Still Ill

Boy With a Thorn in His Side

There are so many more, but I think for atleast this week these are my top 5. Your thoughts?

"Still Ill" is okay, though I can't put it in my top 5. "Girlfriend in a Coma" is very good, though.

A few of their songs that I don't think get enough recognition:
"This Night Has Opened My Eyes" - really showcases how tight that Rourke/Joyce rhythm section was. Great interplay between them, beneath all those terrible lyrics about infanticide and such.
"Well I Wonder" - I think this gets overlooked on Meat Is Murder because most people just think of "The Headmaster Ritual," "How Soon Is Now?", and the title track, but it's a great showcase for Johnny Marr as a guitarist and producer, even more so than usual: all those varied layers of guitars, the rain shower sound effects, good stuff.
"Rubber Ring" - wherein Morrissey breaks the fourth wall and concedes that everyone else is going to move on from being depressed and listening to the Smiths, and begs us not to forget about him, which in a way is more depressing than anything else in the catalogue. Instrumentally, it's one of their best, too. It makes reggae tolerable, which isn't easy.
"Ask" - It induces diabetes

Your thoughts on my Asian queen?

I've really only known her in that Disney show kid stuff, so I don't see her as an adult. Now if there's an adult role she's done that needs to be brought to my attention, let me know.

But I got a new one for you: Freida Pinto. Wow....

Oh, that's Brenda Song. An asain woman with a nice ass is hard to find. I also liked the mom of Zach and Cody. I used to beat it to "Thats So Raven", Raven and that red head were both hot.

BTW, great thread. Hot chicks, TM and Webby, Shark, everyone keep it up.

Always been a fan of Morrissey and The Smiths. "How Soon Is Now?" was one of my faves since I first started listening, but once I saw Natalie Portman as a stripper in some movie with that song playing in the background it has held a very special place in my heart.

Is it true that their guitarist is now playing with Modest Mouse, or am I misremembering?

BTW nice Yacht Rock avatar, but I have to say Loggins comes in a close third to Hall & Oates as the best character on Yacht Rock
