Is there a radio station in the Chicagoland area that is away at commercial break more often than The SCORE? You can't turn the station to 670 without them either already away at a break or going to one. It's really ridiculous.

what are you talking about? Even if there were that many commercials, wouldn't...

We'll get right back to this post, but first; The New York Mint is releasing a special commemorative silver dollar. Imagine examining artifacts in the Smithsonian Institution and finding a never-before-seen sketch for the largest and highest denomination American coin ever proposed? That’s just what happened as one coin expert recently explored the collection at this celebrated public institution. But as this numismatist discovered, it has more to share than he could ever imagine.

To his own surprise, he has found the original design concept for a hundred dollar denomination created by George T Morgan, arguably the greatest American coin designer. These sketches, hidden within an original sketchbook for nearly a century, represent perhaps the grandest American coin ever proposed – the $100 Union.

Morgan was the most qualified successor to William Barber when he died in 1879. But most of the opportunity that might have come to George Morgan during his nearly half-century tenure with the U.S. Mint was blocked. Before his death, William Barber ensured that his own con, Charles, would be appointed Chief Engraver. After Charles died in 1917, Morgan was finally appointed Chief Engraver for the U.S. Mint, holding the post until his death in 1925 at the age of 79.

Despite his bridled position at the U.S. Mint, Morgan is remembered for having created masterpieces. His name always comes to mind for his most famous coin – the Morgan silver dollar. Until recently, the world knew nothing of Morgan’s larger sized and higher denomination $100 Union concept design. Imagine what these higher denomination $100 Unions would be worth if they made their way from Morgan’s sketchbook to U.S. coinage!

The secret’s out! Now you can own the world’s First and Only $100 Union Silver Proof at our special price of $99. Carefully created from Morgan’s long lost original $100 Union sketch, each is struck in .999 pure Silver and comes encapsulated and includes a Smithsonian Institution velvet pouch.

I thought 670 "The SCORE" has cut back on commercials in favor of more local sports talk, but I know the "wheel" is different when Dan Patrick is on via tape delay, as well as the folks at Sporting News Radio in Los Angeles. I'm probably getting a little too technical, but I know that ESPN Radio has a set "wheel" in regards to their hourly clock for sports talk.

It's not just both of Chicago's sports talkers that are guilty of long commercial breaks. I'm a NASCAR fan, and sometimes I'm not exactly at a TV when the Sprint Cup Series is racing. For the last couple of years, US 99.5 has been airing MRN & PRN Radio Network coverage of the Sprint Cup Series. Whenever a race is rained out on the date scheduled and airs the very next day, US 99.5 will veer off course, take an extended local break and listeners end up missing a big chunk of race coverage. Tune in sometime this season, and you may understand what I'm referring.

Shit SHARK, watching the cars racing around the oval isn't mind-numbing enough, but who the hell can listen to it on radio? Obviously I'm not a racing fan...

Yeah the thought of listening to a NASCAR or really any other type of race on the radio is brutal. The absolute worst has to be the Chicago Martathon on the radio. The worst part is all the schills that they get out there selling us on how awesome it is.

spmack, you know there are others here, besides chaspoppycock, that also have no use for the policies of the Chosen One?
Not everyone who disagrees with Barry is a chas mult and not everyone is a Riles/Nos mult.

Are we in for another May 1st meltdown? You came through in spades, if you will, on your May 1st meltdown promise last year. Can we expect even more form you this year?

When I talk about others having a mult, its a joke. But I'm 99% certain on Nos mults because the writing style is the same in each mult.

Porterhouse
Gayelle
RStarre
Kishin Shinoyama
President Obama
New Years Day (he was just lazy with coming up with a name that day)

and about 20-30 others I can't think of at the moment.

I'm pretty new here. Was that comment written in English?

FYI, there's plenty of people who don't like the Messiah blowing up the deficit to $3 trillion and his appointing a racist AG to lecture us on issues he knows nothing about.

According to your records, you've been around since Dec 07. Thats a year and some months. You're not new, Juspopchillcap.

Thank for checking into my records Big Brother. I may have signed on here over a year ago. It's easy enough to see that I've a total of less than 10 posts. Haven't been back till about this January. I've just commented on three threads. Hence, new.

There are those of us who are fortunate enough not to have made thousands of posts to the Score message boards. In fact, in between beers, you can probably research all the posts I've made. Assuming you're coherent at that point.

THAT spot is the biggest load of crap in the world.

There are FEWER advertisers, THAT is why the Score has 'cut back' on commercials - NOT because of, or for the listeners.

Beef, if that's misleading, chew on this. There's a promo "The SCORE" has been airing for about a month or so claiming that "The #1 Morning Show in Chicago is Mully & Hanley". Beef, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought "Mike & Mike" was #1 over everybody in the Chicago sports talk radio market...

I guess Mike and Mike don't BROADCAST from Chicago.

lol.. what a joke.

But I'm sure there are MANY other 'morning shows' picking the meat off the carcasses of Mully and Hanley. Surely they can't be pulling bigger numbers than WGN or Eric and Kathy.

Beef, I haven't seen the ratings for John Williams since he replaced William O'Dell on WGN 720. Before radio started using those PPMs to gage what Joe Listener is tuned into, a number of non-sports talk shows outdraw both ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike" & 670's "Mully & Hanley". I'm reasonably sure "Spike", WBBM 780's Felicia Middlebrooks, "The Big 89's" Don Wade & Roma, and "The Mix's" Eric & Kathy all ranked in the Top 10 in the ratings, even before the likes of "Eddie & JoBo" & "Crazy" Howard McGee were sent packing.
