We'' strongly disagree on this one. There was really no one like Berman when ESPN started and I think he was fresh and a big reason why ESPN got so big. The past 8 years or so? Sure, gag me.

I think I could live with Berman doing football shows and the occasional lead on a baseball program, like the All Star game. I would simply ask that he not be allowed to do highlights anymore and he be forbidden from using his "Rumbling..Stumbling.. Bumbling.." "Back Back Back.." or anything that cause him to have a pitch high enough to piss off my dog.

Yeah, he's pretty tolerable during the 42 straight hours on the draft show.

Ugh - brutal!

Good post Ryan.

Since late 2002, after TDub was let go from The Score, I became more of an ESPN 1000 fan, and for a while, I was very biased with that, mostly because I had the chance to meet a lot of the 'MVP people during a tour of the station a few years ago.

In all honestly, between 8a-4:30p, I'm listening to The Score much more these days. On some days, I can stomach North for an hour leading into Mulligan and Hanley (on others, the radio stays off until 10a). I cringed when I knew it would be Hanley and Doug this week, but that is a hell of a lot better than Salisbary and Rosenbloom (I dislike both of them).

Usually around 12 or 12:30 is my lunch, and I turn to DP and Olberman at 1p, so I really avoid Murph a lot. B&B save me at 2 and at 3, I stay with B&B or go to MJH.

As much hate Tom Shaer got on these boards, I miss his morning updates. I don't dislike Bryan Dolgin, but Shaer had more fire and at least attempted to put some "Chicago" into the mornings during breaks and updates.

I was pissed that Silvy and Carmen got demoted, but in all honestly, I think they do sound better at night. I think they tried to be a bit different doing middays, either that, or they just don't feel as much pressure and what they do just sounds better at night. I don't know.

Sean and Steve suck, I don't listen to the station when they're on. So to answer your question, yes, I have lost interest in WMVP in the last year. While I lost one midday show that I liked (S+C), I gained another with Mulli and Hanley. Losing Tom Shaer isn't the end of the world, but I just don't listen to any morning radio really.

WMVP has a few good options now. Either put Chet in middays or put him on at night maybe. Maybe put Chet and Silvy together during middays? Bring JD and Hood at night then possibly.

Solid stuff North Shore. Neil Everett (think thats his name) pisses me off too. I remember when he just showed up on Sportscenter and immediately had this, " I'm the next Kenny Mayne. You better bow to me now" type attitude. I understand confidence, wittiness, and sarcasm helped make Sportscenter great buts it toooo much.

I don't want Sportscenter anymore. I can't honestly tell you the last time I watched that show for more than 15 minutes.

Things I hate about Sportscenter......Next!

1. Every day is an hour long edition. This is not needed. Give me thirty minutes and stop acting stupid the other half of the time. This is why ESPN News is way better.

2. Stop it with the human interest stories that take up 20 minutes of your show. I don't need a Chris Connelly or Jeremy Schapp story everyday. Once a week, more than fine. Put that on the Sunday show...which reminds me.

3. Cut the freakin Sunday/Monday morning show down to an hour. Are you F'ing serious? An hour and a fuckin' half? That is absolutely insane. My god, I just want to catch what happened in the Tigers-Blue Jays game and I have to sit through this shit for God knows how long to get 30 seconds of highlights and stats so Sean Salisbury can do a Budweiser six pack of his fantasy sleepers on the year...which by the way, I don't give a shit what Sean think fantasy football wise. There are much better people, including 20 of us on the baords, who could predict that shit as well as him.

4. Bring back the highlights please. Sometime I think they even forget to report on every major sport's game from the night before. Stop making your show a way to see how many ESPN emplyees can get on an episode telling us things that could happen or they'd like to fantasize about happening. How about what did happen?

5. Fire idiots. Stu Scott, Neil Everett, etc. Control others: Berman, Irvin, Salisbury...

Great post Ryan, I couldn't agree more. The only time I ever put Sportscenter on is to catch a score on the crawl, and that can take 20 fucking minutes. It seems like every anchor is just trying to get themselves over, all while trying to come up with the next "big" catchphrase. I blame that douchebag Olberman and to a lesser degree Kilborn and Mayne. Now every anchor seems to think we are interested in their "unique" personality. I'm not. The whole cute, witty, smarmy, aren't I cute, too cool for the room shtick is so played out. You're not curing cancer you self-important pricks. You're an above-average looking, haircut passing for a man/woman, who reads words of off a teleprompter. Just give me the fucking scores, and quit getting high off of your own supply.

Too bad we lost Fox Sports Net (BIG loss, lol). They were going to debut a new show... probably their 2454th attempt at rivaling SportsCenter. I think it was going to be called "FSN Final Score" or something. Suppose to be 30 minutes with rotating hosts, and focus on highlights... not the anchors.

To change the subject, does anybody watch the Comcast SportsNight or SunRise?? It reminds me of Cable Access in a way (maybe the music?), but its better than ESPN.
