[edit] Forgot the third thing to comment on. Mac said something odd about how they can't mention the other host who was moved aside when Mac/Spiegle took the mid day slot. This while speaking of LoHo and Hampton. Meaning what? Don't know. Maybe Murph's going to pursue some wrongful termination path, and they don't anyone on-air giving him more ammo. Presumably, B&B's past tirades about him, should Murph grabbed the podcasts of them, might make for interesting situation. But that's all conjecture on my part...

Let me deal with the third part of Beebo's rant first. Mac & Spiegs, along with "Boers & Bernstein", briefly mentioned Drew Hayes leaving for "The Big 89" WLS-AM to become the new Operations Director. I know that Mac didn't mention Mike Murphy by name when mentioning the shows that "The Danny Mac Show" preceded on 670 The SCORE & 670thescore.com. I remember Mac had less than kind words to say about Murph when Danny was down the dial with Jurko & Harry. I know that Boers and Murph haven't exactly been on speaking terms either, even before Mac re-joined WSCR last spring.

I know that Shadow Traffic does more than just traffic. In addition to merging with Metro Traffic a few years ago, Shadow & Metro team up to provide news & sports, not just on radio stations, but on TV as well. I'm reasonably sure that Matt Rodewald, part time sports anchor/host at WSCR and full-time traffic guy on NBC5's local version of "The Today Show", is such an example of someone who is technically employed by Shadow/Metro, but provides services to both NBC5 & SportsRadio 670. Something else to consider, Shadow is actually part of Westwood One, which is also the syndication arm of CBS. If you're confused after all that, you're not alone. Trying to explain all that is enough to give everybody a headache...

Last but not least, Chris Collins is the SCORE's Sports Director. He might be the one to inquire about update anchor & reporter assignments on the radio station...

Last I heard, Zack and Dave Kerner are Shadow guys. Which is how they "traded" the two between 'BBM and WSCR.

It doesn't quite make much sense to be asked not to mention Murph by name. After all, his ads still run on the station where he identifies who he is. Unless they want to prevent a diatribe from starting.

Mac I think has treated Murph fairly since coming back. But he *does* talk about him from time to time.

I heard that the people who do the traffic reports on WSCR, like Bonnie Green & whoever else, are actually not even in Chicago..they're in Denver or some such place.
As for Chris Collins, why is it that we never ever hear anything about this guy? I have never heard a show host mention his name.

As far as I know, Bonnie Greene, Marti Jones, Joe Collins, Bart Shore, Bill Cherones and other Shadow/Metro Traffic reporters who provide traffic to many Chicago radio stations are based here, but don't necessary work at the radio station where they provide traffic, news, sports and other services. They work at a separate office building, but it's hard to tell because of the ISDN line that makes it sound like they're in the same studio as the shows they're on. It's a technical thing that's kinda hard to explain...

Sports Director Chris Collins, on the other hand, has been mentioned quite a bit by SCORE hosts, even though you rarely hear his voice on the sports talker except in an occasional commercial that also involves 670 The SCORE's Production Director Russ Mitera. His voice is very distinctive...

Guessing, because he never gets in their way. On the other hand, if he didn't assign anyone to do the morning show updates one day, Mully and Hanley might read him the riot act over the air.

I remember when Shaer was booted, leaving Memolo doing the morning show solo. He figured, since he was now host, he doesn't do updates. Wrong! He was off doing both.

On the other hand, Les does his own updates... They'd also make him produce if they could :-)

Isn't there a union rule that says the show hosts can't to their own updates?

There is no unions at the SCORE.

Ok. You would know better that I. I thought all on air talent had to belong to some kind of broadcasters union.

They do at some stations. WBBM-AM is one I think.

That's not quite accurate, Beebo. While Les does his own updates most of the time, Connor McKnight has done "Scoreboard Updates" twice this week during the Grobber's "SCORE Overnight" show. I'm not sure that Connor will be on update duty again tonight when Les signs on after "NIU Live" at 10:30p this eve.

Other SCORE update anchors, such as Brian "The Whipping Boy" Paruch, Matt "The Dancing Fool" Rodewald, the Chris Chelios-looking Mike Esposito & Joe Ostrowski, also double as update anchors when they get chances to host shows on 670 The SCORE & 670thescore.com. Esposito, by the way, has been doing "Scoreboard Updates" during LoHo's show tonight on 'SCR.

"Rodie" co-hosted and did updates with Paruch Tuesday night before the DePaul/West Virginia game in place of Laurence Holmes. With LoHo co-hosting with Spiegs tomorrow on the "Mac Show", Paruch will be hosting again tomorrow night, even though LoHo's name appears on the schedule from 6-10p. Brian & Dan Hampton will be filling the 4-hour time slot LoHo usually occupies after "B & B". Paruch & Barry Rozner will also host local sports talk Sunday 3-6p before Westwood One's coverage of the Pro Bowl in Miami. If that's not enough, following DePaul's likely loss to Syracuse Saturday afternoon, Esposito & NBC5's Bruce Wolf host local sports talk from 3-8p leading up to the Ostrowski/John "Rock" Mamola gabfest...Got all that?
