Listen to the Bearly Legal podcast on talkzone.com and hear Tom Lemming talk recruiting, and he breaks down the top High School players in Illinois including Davaris Daniels and Kevin Earl and where Daniels may end up, and why he would recommend playing baseball over football anytime.
Then, it’s memories of those great Cubs teams from the late sixties & early seventies, with second baseman Glenn Beckert. Glen shares some of his favorite MLB memories, talks about former roommate Ron Santo, and compares the ballplayer of today with his era’s, and talks about why he prefers Girardi over Sandberg as the next Cubs manager.
Former Major Leaguer Mike Marshall talks about life after Pinella for the Cubs, Derek Lee’s refusing to be traded, issues with playing in Wrigley Field, and why former catchers make better managers, and his thoughts on Sandberg as a manager.

Hi David,
Let me beat Baby McNown to the punch -
"You suck, your show sucks, your guests suck, you have no ratings, you are a sports talk wannabe, etc."
Keep up the good work, David.
I admire your effort.

Aren't you bummed Lorenzen Wright won't be available for an interview in 2026?

How about Doug Buffone, Marv Levy, and Jack Pardee with Bob Avellini as cohost in studio with Robin and I next week.

I used to work at a paper company with Avellini.
He worked there in the off-season when he was the Bears QB.
Ask him if he remembers me.
He would remember me as the guy with the Mike Phipps business cards.
Long story. I'll tell you some day.

Tom Lemming, eh? That's pretty good. I might try to catch that.

Nobody talks college sports and recruiting in this town.

I think they had a podcast that I used to listen to - "Totally Illini" or something like that...maybe that was WMAY. But, they never updated it so I quit listening.

True story. I had Beckert's batting helmet that he used in '69-'70. I was going through a rough financial patch in 2005 and naturally that was the only season in the last ten that I didn't have Sox season tickets. I wasn't going to miss that first World Series game no matter what it cost, so I sold Beckert's helmet to buy my ticket. Hell, I would have sold my furniture. I didn't really mind selling a Cub item to finance a Sox World Series ticket.

I used to have Joe Pepitone's bat, so to speak, I wonder if that would have secured me a skybox for a White Sox World Series game? :?

When someone starts a story out with the words "true story", I usually think it belongs in the "Things that make your bullshit meter go off" thread.
No offense, JoeRod, just an observation. I am happy you were able to secure World Series tickets. Did you also get Murph's bugle in the deal?

Hey David, how's your ratings doing? You have to have some idea of page counts or downloads or something.
I'm wondering if you're beating the Afternoon Saloon. I wouldn't doubt it.

If I had Murph's bugle, I'd never sell it! Anyway, if I were going to make up a story, I probably wouldn't write myself as so fuckin' destitute that I had to sell memorabilia to buy a ticket to a ballgame.

You're in an S-Class, now right? Fortunes change quickly, I suppose. Good for you.

It's an E-Class, Reason. I'm not that much of a North Shore fat cat.
