Anybody watch the last episode of this?

Heard that Mike Hegedus got a little Mike Schmidt or Don Zimmer in him, very emotional.

He said something to the effect that "It's a sad commentary that creativity and putting out a good product gets outdone by ratings.   "

I saw it. He got really choked up lamenting the demise of creativity and how he was ashamed that the medium that he loves has become so homogenized or something to that effect. Then, he and Terry Savage had a bit of a cry.

It was a good speech and I don't disagree with him. But, not all new ideas are good.

That's the kind of drama only North can manufacture.

We all took the cancellation of 'The Bill Engvall Show' pretty hard.

Terry: "I'd be remiss not to mention what a stimulating challenge it was to work with Mike North and Dan Jiggets for most of the show....and I loved working with you (other creepy guy named Mike), in particular I've really enjoyed these last two weeks with you (without North/Jiggets)"

Love it.

That Hegedus dude really reminds me of Jerry Springer.

I just watched that final clip. Creepy or not, I feel bad for the Hegs guy. Pretty much everyone here viewed MMITM through the prism of Mike North. But it's easy to forget someone like Hegs, a TV veteran, might have thought this was a really novel concept and wanted to see it given the proper time to develop. We can argue about the quality of the show all we want and who, or what, made it good or bad. But there probably were people on the show, producers, hosts, etc. that really thought this would be a nice alternative and wanted to make it work.

I feel bad for these people because I'm pretty sure North was just on the show to remain in the media and other than staying in the media/collecting checks he wasn't invested in the show. He basically said it himself, he's looking for a new job at all times. I doubt Hegs was. North jumped ship the second the cancellation was announced. Jiggs also, I thought he would have the tact to see the show through the end.

I don't know if this makes sense or not.

For someone like Hegs to be on a show that gets cancelled, fine, that happenes, but to be on a show that gets cancelled when 1/2 of the hosts treat the show like a welcome mat, well I don't think it's fair to the others. I mean how invested in a show can you be if you're actively shopping for other jobs even with 1+ years left on your contract?

When wasn't television homogenized? Seriously. News programs have always pretty much followed the same format during their respective eras. And prime-time TV has always been a follow-the-leader format...whether it was 60's westerns, 70's police shows or today's reality garbage. :?
