he doesnt. basically, he got to know they guy, everything seemed fine. he went to the guys offices, everything was in check. he did some searching on the internet, everything still ok. this is where he should have paid for a real investigation into hernandez's background, he simply did not.

its not even clear if a background check would have turned anything up... but 3 bankruptcies would have been there, and that would have been a red flag to say the least.
