I saw one of those days over the weekend she was waking up from a nap at about 7 in the evening.

Yeah, as someone who was in high school in the timespan that having a cell phone went from luxury to novelty (a text sent and received in 7th-hour econ, 2003: "i am texting you right now") to practical necessity, I have no idea how schools should handle phones now. I just can't relate. Obviously, common sense is that you shouldn't have your phone on or out during class periods, but I wouldn't wanna be the teacher confiscating a $500 phone or however much an iPhone goes for nowadays and having to explain to parents why I have Caden McAidenjaden's very expensive phone and he doesn't.

I'm guessing phones are supposed to be turned off during testing to avoid cheating. Why not text your child during lunch or study hour with something like that? I can understand a family emergency, but something having to do with a wrestler?

Obviously this wouldn't work in a public high school, but my friend's kid goes to an East Coast prep school and I asked him if he brought his phone to class. He told me that he could play on his phone throughout the class if he wanted. The only thing that wouldn't be tolerated was talking on it. He could even wear earbuds the entire time and no teacher would say anything. If you do that and fail, nobody cares. It's all on you and don't cry when you get kicked out.

There's no doubt that society has different expectations on the genders. Men are expected to act tough and not show weakness or too much emotion.

We all have to deal with the hands we are dealt. And society is very unfair. I would contend that Black America collectively has the toughest job in overcoming stereotypes in the workplace. It's fine that she wants to crusade about women in sports, but it's the women themselves that make appearance so important- hair, nails, clothes, make-up, cosmetic surgeries.
