I don't understand all of the car jokes, honestly. Is he not supposed to get a car he wants?

As already explained it isn't the type of car,, it's the fact he referenced the car in his anti listener rant. It comes down to "stop listening, I don't care. I will still get paid, drive a Rover and wear 5000$ suits"

cars are still very much a status symbol. its funny some of the most successful well to do people i know drive jalopies.

Even if money was no object, I think I would still just drive a standard pickup truck. I just never really cared that much about what I drive, as long as it sits up off the ground.

Got a brand new Mercedes 450 GL something in Denver recently because of being a repeat renter.

Nice car, but my first thought was, who pays $75K for this car?

Yeah, renting gives you good perspective on it. Whenever I get some expensive fully loaded vehicle at the rental place, the first day or two is awesome and by the end of the week, it feels about the same as any other vehicle.

A car is really nothing more than an appliance. It's value goes down to $0 or at least close to $0

when Uber first started I made the mistake of getting Uber black on accident...ride to the Metra station that is ~8$ was like 25

it was some Mercedes or something but I was thinking this really doesn't feel special at all. Idk . I kinda agree with you, all my life I've driven Corollas/Sentras, etc...I have a 06 Camry now...I thought at some point of trading it in and getting something new for once, but then I though eh I don't really care . It runs fine, it's paid for. Done

Buying a nice car is fine.
Bragging about buying a nice car is a dbag move.

Pretty much comes down to that . Lil Danny / Boers, making huge money for years. Never heard them say what they drove ( though I think Lil Danny mentioned buying an Acura one time ? ) But definitely in more of an incidental way not bragging.

They also both had enough years at the top where that car purchase would be a sliver of their net worth.

Jason on the other hand had only just gotten his big money hosting gig and was spending it all like crazy. Now that gravy train is gone. He's as fucked as a 3rd year NFL player who just got cut after the 2nd pre-season game.

If you're going to spend a lot of money on something, at least do it on something like a house, which should hold its value.

Plus it's not really difficult to finance an expensive vehicle, whether you're buying or leasing. Most people with any sort of income could probably do it, depending on their other circumstances.

Bernsie mentioning he drives an Acura with his cash is nothing but an example of practicality and frugality.

An Acura TL probably costs less than Mac's F-150 and is probably half of Jason's Range Rover.

No one ever said Dan was dumb when it came to personal finance.

Some like comfort. Utilitarian needs? Some performance and some even status I guess. What you driving?
