It would be interesting to get a comparison between the NBA, NFL and MLB in terms of percentage of players in each league who have been arrested in the past five years.

I actually was just thinking that since the NBA has roughly 20-25% of the active players that the NFL has.

Who';s the last player to come out? Oh yeah, NBA'er John Amaechi. I don't know what this proves other than in some NBA locker room there is probably a man staring at his fellow man in the shower.

The current estimates indicate that 3-4% of adult males are gay or bisexual. That would mean that statistically there is a gay player on half the teams in the NBA and 3-4 on every NFL team.

Ben Gordon always seemed kinda fruity to me.

Interesting how Rick had that stat right at his fingertips. I wonder what else he's got at his fingertips....

Wilt Chamberlin was definitely gay. The fact that he had sex with 10,000 women just proves he had to constantly repress his homosexual urges!

I am not gay. I never have been gay.... In June, I overreacted and made a poor decision. I chose to plead guilty to a lesser charge in hopes of making it go away.... Please let me apologize to my family, friends and staff and fellow Idahoans for the cloud placed over Idaho. I did nothing wrong at the Minneapolis airport. I did nothing wrong, and I regret the decision to plead guilty and the sadness that decision has brought on my wife, on my family, friends, staff and fellow Idahoans.

And you know I don't think he should be in the locker room while we're in the locker room. I wouldn't even be a part of that.

That was a Sen. Larry "toe-tapper" Craig reference, Frank.

There have always been rumors about a certain mediocre pitcher in the 70's. Pitched for the Sox and Cubs. Long time broadcaster for the Cubs. Does Sox games now.

That's a Steve Stone reference, Frank.

I know. I just wanted to compare Purdue with the wasteland that is Idaho.

Idaho is probably nicer than the area around Purdue.

Wouldn't surprise me. Other suspects include:

Mark Pryor
Carl Lewis
Barry Bonds
Jeff Garcia

  Trainwreck TV, but hilarious.

Kudos to Zach for defending the NBA's wrongful image. Although that one picture of 'Sheed at a charity event on a cell phone giving the "hold on a minute" index finger to the organizers is priceless.

that's my point. the use of "past month" was obviously done for dramatic effect, but even if there haven't been *5*, the NFL is still more appropriately considered a "thug league" than the NBA.

Thanks for posting the five names.

And I don't dispute the premise that the NFL is more of a thug league than the NBA.

Jason, can you discuss why in the world does Kobe speak like MJ? Maybe even get soundbites from both, play them side by side, mixed with "Wanna be like Mike."

The dude CREEPS ME OUT every time I hear him do an interview or post game.

Quite naturally anyone who would pretend to be Michael Jordan but is to some degree not Michael Jordan has to work on the mental side of his life. Certainly, I understand the need to want to say and do the things that Michael Jordan might say and do but you must understand that it requires a mental and physical commitment that very few would be able to show dedication toward. While most definitely flattering to myself, I must conclude it to be a dangerous mental exercise.

Well, one thing you have to understand, when speaking of your space, is quantifying it compared to the space that's given to you on a given base, or batting on deck circle if you will. When I say, "my space is important", speaking in terms of the on deck circle, you need to have the vision of what person is at bat, and what the pitcher is giving you to see at that at bat, if the batter knows that you're behind him, and while he is in his space, he is giving you the tools to succeed when you come to bat.

When you are at home plate, and you are swinging away, your space is important, as in not to give away that space to a pitcher who is trying to pitch inside and make you nervous.

When I was with the machine, the space was never an issue because we had a small strike zone to work with usually--or at least, that's how it seemed because we were hitting the ball so well.

On base, your space is necessary, that is you need to firmly capture the pitcher's attention when you're leaning because you want to be able to steal a base when you can, throwing a pitcher off when he is trying to pitch to the next batter in the line up.

And in that moment, his space is your space, and my space is his space, and all in all, I will get to home plate because I'm fast and it's a hit and run, and everybody knows that.

The Machine is no longer a proper noun?
