I know someone, who had someone running a ponzi scheme through their clearing house, unknown to them. They did several background checks on the guy because the rate of money he was going through money was suspicious, and could never find anything because the guy was never a convicted felon or anything like that. After the guy got caught, every employee who had any dealings with the customer had to go through a deposition. This will happen to North, Be-Be and Spaceball no doubt about it. If they had any wrong doings in the matter, it will be found out. North will also be potentially be named in a class action lawsuit since DH used 275K of the money for CSW.

OK, that's encouraging. I like what I'm hearing . . .

I do have to say that I don't think North was going out with DH getting people to invest in this 16% bullshit, and probably thought the money was coming from his business, but if you profit in anyway from a ponzi scheme, even if you had no idea where the money came from, you can be added to any type of class action lawsuit.

I'm no lawyer, but could the talent, both on and off air, file one based on being lied to about the funding/business model, etc?

I'm not a lawyer either, just work in the financial business so know some info about ponzi scheme's.

Which is the first thing a lawyer would advise someone to do. I don't think Dan is over the top; far from it.

And North right now isn't being investigated. But if he keeps talking, who knows.

Eventually, if you make enough noise; someone might look.

We don't know if the F.B.I. has talked to him....I would hazard a guess they sure as shit have.

I could swear that I read on either the trib or sun times site yesterday that North is scheduled to meet with the FBI on 6/22. Did I dream this? Am I :drunken: ? Am I :drunken: , but did read this yesterday??

No, man. Bernsey loves it. I'm sure they held his reins back today. he would have talked about it for hours.

That's what pisses me off. They SHOULD talk about this for hours. Its huge news in Chicago sports. I hate the way the media begrudgingly covers the topic of sports media as an actual sports story. It IS a sports story. Sports media is huge and the people on the air have become local sports personalities just like local athletes. As fans, we spend a lot more time listening to the opinions of sports media people than we do of athletes on a daily basis. When news affects the landscape of the local sports media scene it should be reported just as quickly as stories about the actual games.

Yet these sports media people are so reluctant to acknowledge that this is relevant news, it really annoys me. Half the time they don't report on this stuff because they don't want to talk about their friends, but IMO that betrays their duty as a sports reporter.

I find these topics to be much more interesting than yet another discussion about the Cutler trade, or who should play centerfield.

Or at least until the Sosa news broke! I think Bernsey dislikes Sosa more than he dislikes North. It was a great day for Dan today. Mrs. B better be ready for "celebration sex" tonight!

Of course he does. There is no better moment in Dan's sports talking life than when he can play the part of the professional that so many in his family thought he would be while growing up.

However this one also hits close to home, as there were people that he cares about hurt by this mess.

Putting this in Simpson's terms, Bernsy was Grimey to North's Homer while they were at the SCORE. In this case, Grimey was proven correct.

I have no axe to grind. I am not a B and B ALS but I am certainly a fan. Have you not noticed the pleasure Dan takes in describing medical problems and legal issues within the context of sports talk?

You're telling me that the above doesn't infer that since Dan is Jewish, he should have been a doctor or a lawyer (or an Indian Chief, as the song says) - and that as such it's not meant in a derogative fashion :?:

Wow...just wow...and I hate using smilies but .

To paraphrase Dan, just because you INFER something does not mean it was IMPLIED...and in this case it is nearly impossible for you to honestly say that you even inferred

Fair enough ... I'm a member of the grammar nazis, and I take your correction with no excuses or smart talk back.

Having said that, I guess I should take a moment to say I'm not looking to start shit for the sake of doing so (there are way too many jerkoffs on this board who have that gimmick all sewn up) ... I guess I simply and completely misunderstood your message - but if you would be so kind, could you please clarify it then?

Here's the Cliff's version, as I think you are being purposely obtuse: Dan is a smart guy. I assume there were higher apirations than local talk show radio host, even though in hindsight, it has made him rather wealthy.

No, I wasn't trying to purposely be obtuse, trollish, a shit-stirrer, or what have you ... I just apparently misunderstood your message.

I vote for just forgetting the whole thing. :?: :)

I am not a fan of North's, but B and B need to leave it alone. You guys won - the others are out and they lost. Act like gracious winners - after all, bernsie, there's lots that we all can be called out on - like how's that play by play career coming along? Big calls from the networks lately? Hear Greenberg may be hosting a new show on ABC - aren't you happy for him?

That right there is awesome. I actually like Bernstein...but with the way he treats other peoples failures...Ya gotta laugh at his play by play "career"
