It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if North & Jiggetts had accepted the job at WFAN in New York years ago.

Even more interesting if the offer actually existed

After Don Imus was let go by WFAN, they considered a number of replacements. North & Jiggets went to New York & actually did 1 maybe 2 shows on WFAN, which resulted in an offer shortly thereafter. You gotta remember that at the time, North was still enjoying national prominence & was probably the most recognizable sports radio show host in the country. It was all over the news that WFAN was courting North & Jiggets.

Below is a link to a story about this. If you Google WFAN Mike North you will find pictures of North in the WFAN studios & numerous stories.
Even the hard core North haters certainly remember & acknowledge this situation.

Scoreboy! You are so off base on this one I have to step in!

1. North and Jiggs CLAIM they got an offer from WFAN years ago when they still had a show together. You can call this great negotiating tactics or a huge bullshitter, but IMO, North was lieing. I normally wouldn't even question his statement of getting the offer from WFAN, but his track record of lieing now is pretty long. Especially in the "Other offers" category.

2. North did go to NYC to fill in for a day or two for Imus and that was it. No offer came of it, just a bunch of "Jen, didn't they say I was the best?" comments.

And here are your pictures. Shockingly , they are on Norths site! http://www.northtonorth.com/pages/newYork.shtml

ya it did exist, at least from what North Jiggs said years back. I think it was when they were on the score for the first year they got a big million dollar offer from WFAN the next year.

I taught the North watchdogs proved that false.

My mistake. Sorry Scorehead[/quote]

No prob.

Actually, the more I think about this, I think Mike North actually had 2 opportunities to go to WFAN. The first was years ago when North & Jiggs were doing the Monsters In The Morning show on the Score. North was offered $1 Million per year to take the show to WFAN.
Then, when Don Imus was let go in 2007, North was considered as Imus' replacement, but I don't think he received an offer.

Your memory is a little off. He and Jiggs were in serious negotiations to go to WFAN at the height of their popularity but chose to stay. I believe it was at this time that North met Dan Mason who, I believe signed him to his 1.5 million per year contract at the SCORE.

North did a solo for a couple of days to replace Imus. Many others did as well. There was no offer.

Exclamation, New York sports fans would've spit "Pappy" out and Howard Stern would've kicked his sorry ass back to Chicago in a heartbeat if WFAN ever made an offer...

Just to clarify, I'm not sure that North ever got an offer from the WFAN when he was with Jiggs the first time around. He could of but I don't know. However I do know that when he signed his big contract, it was long after the Monsters had broken up. I also know that nobody was bidding against the Score, but Mike went to CBS corporate and got his raise through them. Basically showing all the advertisers that he brought in and they caved.

As for the Imus audition, he never was offered the job afterwards. He went and filled in because corporate wanted to hear him out. It was right after the Ozzie f-bombs on the morning show. I believe that was it because he got alot of press out of it. It could have been something else but I think that was it.

As for do I think North will work again? Yes.

Do I think I will enjoy it? Probably not, havent since he broke up the Monsters.

North's next move is the unemployment line or a fill in role. The star has burned out, he's a fucking joke and everyone except Jen knows it. I hope to see him on Lower Wacker drive on my way to work some morning.

North's Vinny Barbarino act would probably have lasted around one year in NYC...
Jiggs would have been forced to have opinions in New York rather than just kissing ass like he does here.
Had Jiggetts gone there and emerged from his comfort zone of schmooze, he is the guy that could have made it there.
