Yeah why Arizona?

Her move should have been to the PR department of one of the sports teams. It's a solid and fairly easy job. The pay is not great but I cannot imagine selling real estate in a depressed market is paying bills either.

I would imagine that she tried for a job but was rebuffed. She isn't articulate and doesn't have much sports knowledge, so why would anyone want to hire her? Did anyone ever think she was anything more than North's de facto personal call girl?

Most of the jobs with teams are entry level. They really require very little. The problem is that they pay very little. Jen was making six figures with Mike and I don't think she was willing to take a pay cut or a job below the executive level. That is why I think she couldn't find a job in the business.

I just noticed this. I am assuming she's talking about Columbia College; but, of course, the saps in Arizona are probably not aware of the trade school on Michigan Ave. in Chicago and will be led to believe that she is a graduate of the Ivy League school of the same name.

Way to be straight-forward, Jen. This will really inspire confidence amongst your potential clients.

Coulumbai College in Chicago has cred in the media type biz. Mike North does not have cred.

Imagine getting her resume and going to google MIKE NORTH and you get to see his You Tube videos, Steak and BJ Day, Hug a blackman, Chinaman, etc.

Lotsa people in the media switch to the real estate industry.

If you say you graduated from Columbia anywhere outside the Empty Bottle or a Chicago radio station, people are going to assume you are an Ivy Leaguer.

I've become convinced that the only reason those guys listen to Larry is so that they can post about how much they like him. It's like they've separately determined they're going to be enthusiastic about something without having reason to be enthusiastic about it. Seriously, go and peruse their comments in the Holmes thread. They read like jibberish due to the massive discontinuity between the tone they are conveying and the content attached to that tone.

Both of these guys like to champion "lost causes"--RPB has historically attempted to rehabilitate the reputations of various despised posters here and Noisewater roots for Illini athletics--but their stance here is truly bizarre. They make Herbert Hoover--who famously declared the Great Depression to have ended in June of 1930--seem as though he had a firm grip on reality.

Laurence's Bears thoughts are better than anyone at the station.

He provides unintentional comedy on a showly basis that has me literally laugh out loud.

OK, so you admit that your enjoyment of the show is ironic. I thought you had previously denied that fact, especially when I described you and your coterie of compatriots as radio hipsters.

No. Never denied the unintentional comedy being the attraction. I think his sports thoughts are solid though.

The sports thoughts are OK. Nobody blows me away with incredible sports thoughts. There aren't any shows that I listen to specifically for their thoughts on sports, like "I need to know what this guy thinks about [xxxx]...."

The tone of the show is much more laid-back and prone to tangents with contributions from Joe or Herb.

There is a significant amount of unintentional and intentional comedy.

Break that down in 25 paragraphs or less, TM.

His sports thoughts are fluid depending upon whether bernstein is scoffing at them or not.

He is better with Bernstein, but at the same time, Bernstein is bad with Larry. Larry brings down Bernsteins game into this weird wannabe stoned, let's talk about the best cereals ever.

Which is actually not a bad 10 mins of radio! The problem would be that Larry would take this kinda nerdy topic and push it to be cool with something like "Oh man, I loved Freakies man, It was so cool, eating those freakies."

When in reality, it was never "cool" to eat Freakies, you just liked the name, the monsters, the prizes and sugar coated corn cereal as a 7 year old, which is fine, because when you were 7, what cereal you ate had nothing to do with being cool, geeky or nerdy.

I meant a step above the t shirt shooter, but yes, booking players and shuffling VIPs around.

I thought North brought his people in at 100K...except for Rock. I just assumed when Jen was overpromoted, she had the salary slot.

I doubt very much that she was pulling 100k when she replaced Maxfield. It was probably a bump to 45k tops. Maybe the same doing weird weather and traffic reports at Comcast. North had the power to force the Score and Comcast to take her, but he couldn't get her big money. Mitch has to answer to bosses. Same with whomever runs Comcast. They couldn't justify that type of money for someone like her. She had no leverage to demand anything more than what they offered anyway. The opportunity the Score gave her was priceless however. So many would kill for the chance she got. She didn't really take advantage of that. She never wanted to get better. She mostly enjoyed taking pictures with famous sports people, going to games for free and hanging out in locker rooms.

Remember when she left the Score? They had offered her some type of role and she said in the papers that she was "insulted". Talk about lack of self awareness. North taught her that.

Being the daughter of a Custom Home Builder & a Real Estate Agent, Residential Real Estate was a natural fit for Jen Patterson. Following a successful media career in Chicago, it was time to take her knowledge, creativity, motivation, plentiful contacts and strong work ethic and put it to the test in the Arizona Real Estate Market.

Jen's curiosity for real estate began at an early age when she started going to work with her father. After graduating from Columbia with a Journalism degree and working in media, Jen realized her combined skill set could effectively be entwined with her passion for the ever-changing, fast-paced real estate industry. Jen learned to really listen to her clients, which helps to achieve the ultimate goal of finding a perfect property and negotiate the best value. She is committed to providing the same dedication for her listings, ensuring that every one of her sellers is kept constantly informed and gets the best possible price for their property.

Jen is excited to combine her knowledge, passion and earnestness with HomeSmart's exceptional and innovative marketing and customer care to continue providing the best experience for her clients, both buyers and sellers. She loves to meet new people and believes that it is important for everyone to have fun while engaging with clients to achieve their very serious real estate goals.

her realistic job options in AZ:

- waitress
- tanning salon receptionist
- stripper
- car dealership receptionist
- babysitter

you know she sent her resume to every media outlet in the Phoenix area (crickets) and Boyton probably told her to get out of the house and do something besides mooch off of him (and so he could bring in the occasional side action) I would certainly bet that the "engine" quits this gig within 3 months and will earn very little. who the fuck needs an agent in that market, it is mostly short sales and foreclosures which she knows nothing about. go work at a nice restaurant in scottsdale.

Plus with Boynton being a single father of two kids and making NHL minimum, he really isn't that rich to where he can piss away alot of money on her. Alimony and child support takes a lot of his NHL money.

Is Boynton with a team this year? Is he still with Philly? If so, she's stuck in Pheonix while he plays the season? That sucks for her. Leave your family and friends to be with the boyfriend, then he goes to play hockey for 6 months and you're stuck in a strange city by yourself with no boyfriend.

But you're probably right. It's just her summer job until hockey season starts. Then she probably comes back here or follows him to his NHL home city.

I know if you're in love nothing else matters. But you really shouldn't fall for a 4th line hockey player with 2 kids. That screams of "Don't trust him." These things always end bad.

Jen Patterson's emergence as a Phoenix-area real estate agent does nothing to disprove my theory that Phoenix is kind of like the Oakland Raiders of white people. Every fuckup gets a second chance there. If you ever knew a girl in high school who got pregnant and then went to school for a year and a half to become a dental hygienist, she's probably doing so out around Mesa or something.
