In a few of the shows there was a strong indication over an evil entity following him and trying to undue his work. I cannot remember it exactly.

"Quantum Leap" was late '80s, early '90s, and there was a flash of blue light... USA Network aired reruns in English, if memory serves, and MeTV actually aired a version exclusively in Spanish a couple years ago as part of a "Si Me!" block of action series on Saturday & Sunday mornings from the folks at Universal Studios.
